I have not used Odyssey batteries in my RV but I have 3 in power sport applications. 1 in a motorcycle that is 3 years old, 1 in a jet ski that is 6 years old and 1 in a jet ski that is 12 years old. The 12 year old battery out lasted the jet ski and cranks the new jet ski fine. They are only used in the summer and spend the winter on a float charger. Yes, you can use just the parallel cables to join a companion type and a regular EU2000. You can use just the cables on two regular EU2000's but you will be limited by the 15 amp outlet on either generator. The $120 kits provide a 30 amp outlet and parallel cables so you can join 2 standard EU2000's. Before the companion was available a few years ago you had to buy the kit to parallel 2 EU2000's and get 30 amps. Also the 30 amp outlet on the companion generator is a standard L5-30R outlet so you will need an adapter for a rv style plug. I have a '02 1500HD and use it to tow a 30' KZ toyhauler that is about 8k loaded. My suggestion is get the 4.10 ratio. It makes a big difference. Mine had the 3.73 and I put 4.10's in it. It transformed it into a different truck. Towing is now much better. Gas mileage towing is 8.5 to 9 mpg and really did not change when I changed the ratio. Empty on the highway is about 14mpg. KZ advertized weights are not really close to the actual weight. My 2008 MXT266 has a dry weight of 5,800 lb. The as shipped weight on a sticker in a cabinet is 6,750. Almost 1K pounds more. I guess the dry weight is no battery, propane tank, TV, stereo, second hapi-jack bed (heavy),AC or anything else that would be considered an add on.235Views0likes0Comments
