In 2018, we took a different way, driving up Hwy 389 from Baie-Comeau in Quebec to reach Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Much of the way was unpaved, but it was not bad. Took it slowly, of course. This is truly a "lonely highway." The road down to Blanc-Sablon was HORRIBLE in 2018. DOES ANYONE HAVE MORE RECENT INFORMATION ON LABRADOR HIGHWAY TO BLANC-SABLON? If it has not been improved then I would not want to go that way again and would take the long way back. From Blanc-Sablon there is a short ferry to Newfoundland. We took to long ferry back to Sydney. If you go to Labrador, I highly recommend taking the ship up to Nain and back. This is a coastal freighter that stops in all of the villages along to coast, and also takes passengers. The locals using the ship sleep in chairs, but we took one of the nice staterooms. There is plenty of time to get off the ship and check out the towns. It is interesting just to watch the unloading/loading at each stop. Every conceivable item comes in on the ship.Re: Fence for DogLook up Midwest Exercise Pen. We got ours at Petsmart. It can be set up outside, or inside if you have enough space.Re: Cleaning your 7-pin connector: air gun brushesThanks, BarneyS, you have it. I had been getting "trailer disconnected" and "turn signal not working" messages off and on for some time, and my trailer brake and turn lights finally stopped working. I was afraid that the problem might be hard to trace, but just cleaning the trailer's 7-pin contacts solved the problem. The OPCleaning your 7-pin connector: air gun brushesI finally found the little wire brush that is small enough to get between and clean each of seven sections of a trailer's seven-pin connector, so I pass this discovery along in case I am not the only one who did not know how to find them. It's called a air-gun brush, or a paint-sprayer brush. I found some at Harbor Freight, but in the paint-sprayer department. (Thanks to Harbor Freight for directing me to the right department.) Amazon has them, too.Re: No CD player in new coachI'm an old dog who had to learn the new trick. First, I went to my computer store for advice. I bought an inexpensive LG "slim portable DVD writer" which can copy a CD to a computer in a short amount of time. I used iTunes on my Mac (which I had never used before, and haven't used since). The entire library of about 500 CDs went onto one thumb drive. I listen to classical music, so the music is organized by composer rather than by performer.Re: Nebraska Hwy 2We followed Hwy 2 from Grand Island to Alliance and found the road to be pleasant with low traffic, and we enjoyed the scenery.Re: When the water pump turns on by itself. In addition to the problem of leaks, I like to use the water pump while camping for another reason: to keep FRESH water in the fresh-water tank. The fresh-water tank needs to be topped up about every third day. The pump gets turned off at night or when we leave for a while.Re: Ford 350 mile per gallonHead or tail wind does make a huge difference. I just want to report that my 2021 F350 diesel gets much better mileage than my 2008. The 2008 averaged around 9 mpg, and the 2021 gets 12 mpg. That's averaged over several thousand miles with all kinds of ups, downs, head and tail winds.Does microwave need to be an "RV" microwave? My microwave has died at age 14, so I'm looking to replace it. Question: does the microwave in an RV necessarily have to be an "RV" microwave. (Some microwaves are marketed as "RV microwaves".) Or can I use any residential above-the-range microwave if it fits the hole? My old microwave was a Domestic, 950 watt, 21 3/4" wide, in a 22" hole.Re: Black Tank Odors wildtoad wrote: Is your backwash a process where you attach a hose to the end cap? Or is it a black tank flush connection? If the latter there is a back flow preventer typically under a bathroom sink than can go bad and allow fumes to enter the bath. I would like to learn about this backflow preventer. I have always wondered about a water line under my bathroom sink that is capped off and seems to serve no purpose. I suspect that it connects to the black tank because it comes up from below. (The underbelly is enclosed so I can't see where it actually goes.)
