I found a complete steering column including keys, steering wheel, air bag, cruise controls and blinkers from a salvage yard. I removed the damaged one and replaced it with the salvaged part. Getting the steering shaft apart and back together was aggravating but it really wasn't that bad. The only minor inconvenience afterward was having to carry two separate keys for the ignition and doors. Back in 2018 the whole column unit was 120.00 but now there is no telling how much it will cost....Re: Cheaha state park in AlabamaIf we are in a hurry we just go to Montgomery and stay on I65 to I20 and then take exit 188 to the Leon Smith Parkway and on over to HWY 281 which approaches the park from the Northeast. HWY 281 is very steep when close to the park but not a big deal. Usually we are not in a hurry and at Montgomery we take I85 east and turn north on Hwy 49. We then turn northwest on HWY 77 toward Ashland and then take Clay County 31 to Highland. Then take the small county roads to HWY 281 which approaches the park from the southwest. Sometimes it seems like it takes forever on this route because it is a slow drive through small towns (with stop signs) but it is a pretty area and you get the bonus of stopping in at the Horseshoe Bend National Military Park if you want to. It is a nice 1 to 2 hour stop if you like that sort of thing. We do this with an F350 and a 28ft fifth wheel and we have no problems.Re: TT camping in BiloxiWe have stayed at Majestic Oaks on Pass Road in Biloxi and it is nice. There is a new park on Hwy 90 overlooking the gulf called Gulf Beach RV Resort. We drove by it a couple of weeks ago and it too appears to be very nice. Both of these have sites that are a little close together but I would stay in either if on the coast.Re: Atlanta to Grand Canyon with 10 daysThe first time we went to the Grand Canyon we did it in 10 days. From South Mississippi it took 2.5 to 3 days of driving to get to Williams, AZ. This was with no stopping at attractions. While there we spent one day taking the train from Williams to the south rim. We took one day to drive to the south rim and then two days seeing the surrounding National Monuments (Sunset Crater, Wupatki, Walnut Canyon, Petrified Forest/Painted Desert). We then spent 3 days driving back home. It is a major "driving" vacation when done this way, but we don't mind driving long distances. With that being said, we have since returned to the Grand Canyon three more times. We now take more time getting there to do all of the Route 66 towns and attractions and other things like El Morro National Monument for example. All of our trips have been in the summer in good weather and thankfully have been trouble free. My worry for you is winter weather. I would think that it could make this trip much tougher no matter how long you take to do it. There are stretches of I40 with very high winds during the summer and I'm not sure if that gets better or worse in the winter. So bottom line: I would do a 10 day summer trip. I don't think I would try a 10 day winter trip unless the weather was really good. (I will say that I have no idea what the weather in that area is like in early December but I'm sure that you would have to be ready for anything from warm temps to freezing with snow)Re: Good Campgrounds in west Texas off I-20We were through that area this summer and we stopped in at Monahans Sandhills State Park near Monahans, TX for a long evening and an overnight. The park had plenty of openings without a reservation. It is a basic campground as the sites only have electric and water but the sand dunes were beautiful. We had a really good time and relaxed on the dunes while waiting for the sunset. It was kind of like a mini White Sands National Monument. We will certainly overnight there again when we are in the area.Re: Trailer Brake Controller on 05' Ford F250 not working right? It seems that I remember the early F250/350 controllers would not activate the brakes if you were stopped or if you were traveling under 10 or 15 mph. Sorry I can't remember the year models though. It should be easy to check by visiting the the ford truck forums and doing a search. I am sure someone here will chime in soon enough with the facts as well.Re: Problem with Dometic 2652donn0128 - I will get these done and see if it helps. wrgrs50s - I was thinking like you in that if it would light after shore power then the igniting system should be okay, but I didn't know enough about how it operates to be sure. If the cleaning doesn't help I will look into this. Thank you both for your thoughts and replies.Re: Problem with Dometic 2652Thanks for the quick reply. I was thinking about that being one of the possible problems. My igniter failed as well a few years back but it wouldn't start at all whether on shore power or lp. I think you have a good idea to have a spare, I may get one and just try it unless I learn something different in my troubleshooting. Also to the Moderators...I just realized I posted in the Forum Technical Support section. If you could put me in the right spot I would appreciate it.Problem with Dometic 2652I have a Dometic 2652 fridge that was manufactured in 2003. It works properly on shore power. It will not start on LP gas only. After it tries to automatically light itself several times, it will finally give the "check" light. Oddly enough it will work on LP if you first start it on shore power and then unplug from shore power while the fridge is set to automatic. I know that is a little confusing but does anyone have any ideas? I have looked at the manual on line in the troubleshooting section and it doesn't really cover my exact problem. I plan to follow the instructions for failing to start on LP and see what happens, but was just hoping to get some other thoughts on it as well. Thanks in advance. ❚ Did you miss the FTS "Announcement : READ BEFORE POSTING HERE"? Moved from FORUM TECHNICAL SUPPORT Re: Grants NM campgroundsWe have stayed at Blue Spruce RV Park several times over the years. It is easy on and off I-40. It is just a normal gravel parking lot, maybe a little tight in some spots, but it has full hookups and it is only 19.00 - 20.00. We think it is a good overnight stop.
