Latency might be too high for interactive video, but should let you stream one way video and other content. Another poster mentioned SpaceX Starlink. It is now in "open public beta" for Northern US and Canada (so your grand canyon / so cal adventure is out.) $100 monthly plus $500 for the fixed ground station (not mobile!) gets you 50 to 100mbit and roughly 20msec latency.Re: CREE Has Been Purchased New LEDs In The WorksMy beef with Cree is their success also caused severe damage to the brand name. Every Tom Dick and Harry on eBay, Amazon, elsewhere is happy to proclaim their products contain Cree LEDs. This is hardly the case, and is especially evident when your lighting gizmo quickly fails, while delivering a less than useful light quality (cri and temperature). I build all my own LED lights whenever possible, and use almost exclusively Lumileds products, purchased via a secure supply chain, to avoid counterfeit products. Wikipedia has a nice article on luminous efficacy, which also covers the limitations behind 300lm/w for "white" LEDs.Re: CREE Has Been Purchased New LEDs In The WorksI thought the maximum was 300lm/watt for a phosphor conversion LED? The blue/uv they use to drive the phosphor is the bottleneck as I recall. If they could drive the phosphor with green LEDs instead, could be interesting.Re: CREE Has Been Purchased New LEDs In The WorksAs I understand it, using carbide allows the diodes to operate and remain stable at much higher temperatures. For a while, Cree found more profits in using their process technology to make switches for EV and electrical grid applications, instead of the LED market. Cree has come out with some fantastic hugely powerful transistors over the last few years.Re: Uconnect 8.4 default to bluetooth?Goducks ... Tried your steps, but must have missed something. While doing the voice command + green phone button all it did was complain about not understanding. After that having the door open until the dash turned off, then closing and starting the engine, radio still defaulting to XM, and still not connecting to BT with the media button. Will try again when it's not pouring out. Kinda thinking I have a defective head unit.Re: Uconnect 8.4 default to bluetooth? mich800 wrote: What type of phone? That version should use wireless Carplay. Not sure about the Android auto function. Then you can just hit the Carplay icon instead of media. I think wireless was introduced in more upscale models. I can do wired android auto, and the radio will default to that. I don't use it for quick drives to avoid wear and tear on the expensive to replace phone connector.Re: Uconnect 8.4 default to bluetooth? goducks10 wrote: Okay Googled around and found this. After I did step 6, my Uconnect system quickly flashed through several screens including what looked like a dial pad and the text "enter anti-theft code" (?). It still started in FM radio, but when I pressed the Media icon, it immediately went to Bluetooth (whereas in the past, I would have to hit the down arrow then select Bluetooth). I restarted the vehicle normally again, and this time it went straight to Bluetooth. Let me know if you have any questions, or you can call Uconnect General Support here: https://www.driveuconnect.com/contact-us.html . Great I'll give this a try, thanks!Re: Uconnect 8.4 default to bluetooth? No memory button.Re: Uconnect 8.4 default to bluetooth? goducks10 wrote: My 19 Ram won't stay in Bluetooth after shutting it off. Haven't taken the time to research so I'm staying tuned in to this thread. Pretty frustrating to say the least. My '17 did.. I wonder if it's a feature FCA removed sometime during the '19 model year?Uconnect 8.4 default to bluetooth?I have a 2020 ram 1500, with the 8.4 non-nav Uconnect system. My XM trial has expired and I don't plan on renewing. There's not much for broadcast radio, so I'd like to default to Bluetooth on the radio. I can't seem to find the menu option to set that. Years ago (2013) I had 8.4 Uconnect with Nav and it just worked didn't have to do anything. Now when I connect to the phone, and turn off, the next time I start up it goes back to the dead XM radio instead of the phone. Maybe my radio is defective? Any ideas?
