Mopar recommends you get truck out on the hiway for half an hour or so once a week if you exclusively do short trips driving.I read that in my buddies 08 Owner Manual.. whether you have Urea injection or not, sooner or later you will have to do a regen, and somewhere down the road the muffler will have to be removed and the filter inside of it get cleaned.. another reason to go gas.Re: Diesel vs gas......................Cummins has different ISB engines in a Fed Ex truck than they would in a Dodge Ram?Re: Diesel vs gas......................I'd like to see a copy or link to the federal regulations that say "Federal regulations REQUIRE that diesel pickups in the 250/2500 - 350/3500 range have emissions systems optimized for long-distance hauling of heavy loads. So they're all built with that."Re: Diesel vs gas......................one more thing is if you live in a severely cold climate, Diesels do have issues with cold starts or fuel gelling if you don't take countermeasures. its funny because years ago, the diesel was prized for its mechanical simplicity and fuel economy and used cheaper fuel, nowadays the gasser is simpler and with cylinder cutout technology, cheaper fuel and the fuel economy is not always all that bad, its not always a bad deal.Re: Diesel vs gas...................... I've been pouring over comments and articles to see if I can justify the extra $$ in fuel savings or longevity. FWIW, I think this thread should live on forever in the Library of Congress. nobody has to read it if they don't want. try and make up a 11,000 dollar difference on price with a 40% fuel economy incentive.. if all other things were equal, you have somewhere between a 5 to 10 cent price per mile bonus with the D. IMHO,most people buy the Big D because they want one.. no doubt the D's pull like a Ox but most of the modern gassers will run like a Deer. gearing can accomplish what raw power does. both will do the same thing.. don't let anybody tell you otherwise.Re: Post your tow vehicle pics herelast of the OBS... 2000 Chevy K3500...350. 30 foot Cedar Creek. Re: Diesel vs gas......................FWIW, non turbocharged diesel engines are referred to as NATURALLY ASPIRATED.Re: Diesel vs gas...................... Why do the mods allow this bash fest to continue? There is little to no good information to be found in 291 pages of this crap. It keeps all the diesel only gas haters club rhetoric about gas engines not being able to do what we do with ours regularly in one spot rather than scattered throughout the forums.
