Never see moisture in the bag and I never need to take it off. I can operate the light and access the switches with the bag on. My jack has some rubber hole covers which could leak as they dry out. Hard to even see the clear bag.Re: Slide Maintence questionLiving in upstate NY I would not open the slide in the winter if it was not necessary. I would wait until the temps were above freezing for several days. If there is water/ ice on the seals you may run the risk of damaging them. I think the slide will be fine without opening it every week. Upstate NY has had a tough winter this year with plenty of snow and very cold temps. I would leave well enough alone.Re: molded front cap - rock protectionI have a fiberglass front cap on my Laredo TT. Surprisingly I am not having a chipping issue either. I do not use mud flaps on the tow vehicle. If I did have a chipping problem I would have a clear plastic chip guard applied professionally. I had it done on an SUV once and it worked great. It is a clear plastic film that is applied over the finish and does work. I liked it because it was almost invisible. The only thing you could see was the edge of the film.Re: 2014 Silverado 3.42 or 3.73Same experience here also. We are towing 6300 lbs. with a 2012 Sierra CC and 5.3 /3.42 axle. Plenty of power on hills. We tow long distances and get a low of 9.5 mpg. to a high of about 11.5 mpg. Depending on terrain, wind etc. The new 5.3 should be better with increased payload, power and torque.Re: Opinions pleaseYou cannot easily get to the bed with the slide in. We use the bathroom and the kitchen at rest stops though. The Inaccessible bed during rest stops did not matter to us. Guess it's a matter of preferences though. All the TT we looked at had drawbacks but this particular model came closest at the time to what we wanted. Guess you need to decide which features are most important to you and go from there.Re: Opinions pleaseI have a 13 Laredo 240MK. We purchased new at Buffalo RV online. Got it for about 19500 plus tax, license etc. We have trailed it from NY to FL. twice now. Had 2 minor issues which I have fixed myself. Have not been back to the dealer since I brought it home. Do not know about any frame issues. Hit a speed bump at about 40 that I did not see until too late last year that really bounced the truck and trailer but did not hurt anything. Seems pretty durable to me. We spend about 3 months in FL with it and plan to take it to Acadia National Park in Maine this fall. The floorplan works well for the 2 of us and our small dog. The Laredo has some very nice features over our previous TT. The 50" shower is especially nice along with 8 cu. ft. refrigerator, fiberglass front nose cap, residential queen bed, 15" wheels, 50 amp. electric, higher ceiling, extra wardrobe closet, bath linen closet, many awning windows (they can stay open in a light rain) and the 32" TV on swing arm. We felt it was a good value for that price and it tows nicely.Roof inspectionI have been inspecting and touching up the sealant every 4-6 months around all the roof penetrations on my 2013 Keystone Laredo since I purchased it. I have not checked the air conditioner or the refrigerator vent since I cannot see the sealant around those areas. Should the plastic shrouds be removed for inspection? If I remove the plastic shrouds will I be able to check the seal? Just want to make sure I do not miss anything. ThanksRe: 2012 GMC Sierra / Size of TT?? (NEWBIE)We have the same truck as you only in a crew cab. We are pulling a Keystone Laredo 240MK with a loaded weight of 6300 lbs. Trailer is 27'-8" long and almost 11' tall. The truck handles it well and pulls fine even on steeper grades as long as you are willing to push the rpm's. The 6 spd. trans does make a big difference vs. the old 4 spd. We just towed through some pretty steep grades in NY and PA. On our way to Virginia this week and I was quite pleased with the stability and performance. Just be careful of your payload and do not overload the truck.Re: Silverado 1500 TowingGene, Sounds like your tow vehicle is performing similar to mine. Glad that you are satisfied with the combination. I have found our setup adequate and we are not paying a big fuel mileage penalty when not towing. I did notice that I listed my payload as 7000 lbs. That number is actually my GVWR. Payload is 1485 lbs. Enjoy the beautiful northeast fall weather while it lasts. We are headed south again in a few months with our rig. Another RV adventure. Happy travels.Travel trailer storage near Winchester VirginiaMy wife and I have been wintering at an Encore Park near Venice Florida with our 27' TT. We will be leaving Rochester, NY shortly after Christmas. We would like to make an October trip to the Winchester VA. area and leave the TT in storage there until we head south in December. I would prefer indoor storage but will also consider outdoor secure storage. Does anybody have suggestions for a storage location within 50 miles of Winchester? Thanks for your help.
