The Mega Cab will have the most overall room (knee/leg room as well as room behind the seat, but that does not necessarily make the ride the most comfortable. Most any crew cab truck is going to have sufficient room, it is up to you to decide which truck has be best overall seat and overall riding experience. I would suggest riding in all of them and then make your decision. I had an older Mega Cab. Loved the truck and the room, but the rear seat was not that comfortable, especially on long trips.Re: Tow truck ideas / adviceI think some people used to replace the springs with heavier ones off of a truck. I'd check somewhere like Rock Auto to see what they have. Probably cheaper than genuine Ford, but still good quality available. I think the F250 front springs were rated at about 2600 lbs so I'd look for at least that. I'm guessing you can probably get 2 with new U bolts for around $500 and it sounds like you guys are reasonably mechanically inclined so installing them would be simple enough for you. A whole lot cheaper than a new truck. Steering not returning to center is usually worn suspension/steering parts, but you've replaced all of those. If the alignment were causing it, I think you would notice that even though you had an alignment done too.Re: Tow truck ideas / adviceThe only other thing I can think of you might try is heavier springs. If I recall correctly, the front springs on the Excursions were softer than on the trucks to help with the ride. Too softly sprung could lead to wandering. Before I sold it, I would try to find a good suspension shop and get a second opinion.Re: Pockett door off track stuck in wallI have to agree with Lou. I'd get a tension curtain rod and put a curtain over the opening to suffice to complete your trip and then deal with it when you get home and have time. Cutting the door down may not be an option as the door may not be solid. Everything in an RV is typically designed to be light.Re: 2004 Viking 1706LS popup camper, uneven roof lift (HELP!)It looks kind of like a coleman style. Have you taken the cover off of the center section to see what adjustment may be inside? If it is a coleman style, take the cover off and you should see the wiffle tree with four eyebolts (one for each corner) with adjustment nuts. You adjust the length of the eyebolts to adjust the height of each corner. You can also raise the roof to extended position and put equal-length supports at each corner so the roof is at equal height on all four corners and then adjust the eyebolts as needed to lift equally.Re: New truck. How long of a trailer can I tow? It's a dually, it can tow anything...:BRe: Old truck, new look…Great looking truck. The first things the kids had to learn before getting their full driver's license was how to properly change a tire and how check and change the oil and yes, I did test them to make sure they could safely do all of it.Re: Insert pinsI've used both and never had either one lose the clip. The grooved one was easier for me because I didn't have worry about the orientation of the clip hole when putting the pin in.Re: The end of an era.I'm kind of sad to see it go. It was always good for a laugh and occasionally even provided relevant information.Re: How many folks want an EVMy next vehicle would be an EV, but I'm not currently willing to pay the price of admission. It wouldn't be a tow vehicle, but rather a commuter vehicle. The current vehicle rarely goes more than 30 miles away at a time, so an EV would work great.
