Don't forget that with a fifth wheel younwill still have the wart in your box when the trailer is not attached.Re: Newbie questionGood choice. A bit more oomph but still a reasonable day to day vehicle.Re: Newbie questionCycler: If you go for a smaller truck, get one with the towing package. It will give you beefed up suspension and better cooling. Before you write off the idea of an F150 class truck, why not check some of the owners forums for the vehicles in question? I find they can be very good sources for honest performance information. I should also mention that I am currently pulling something similar to your rig with a 2008 F150 with a 5.4L v8 and towing package. I have had no issues with insufficient power or overheating.Re: Newbie questionCycler: some of the F150 options show a towing capacity of over 17000lbs. That is for the new ecoboosts. People I know who have bought them confirm that they have extraordinary towing capability at low rpm. Here is a link to specs for the Canadian versions: http://www.ford.ca/trucks/f150/specifications/towing/ . The US models should be similarRe: Newbie questionHow much time is your truck going to be hauling your trailer? If you are going to be on the road full time, then a one ton diesel makes sense in terms of capability and fuel cost. If you are going to be on the road one or two months a year with the truck being used for short trips around town the rest of the time then a big diesel will never pay for itself and short start and stop trips will actually be bad for it. An alternative might be an F150 supercab with an Ecoboost V6. It will haul more than twice your payload requirements and be far more versatile when you are not hauling a trailer.Re: New truck now?Unless you have put a ridiculous number of miles on it or it doesn't have the capacity to pull whatever you have now, a ten year old diesel should not need replacing. Just wanting to replace it for the hell of it is another issue. Have you thought about getting a lease return instead of something new? Better yet, find the model of this years truck you like and arrange with a dealership to buy a lease return of that model when they come up for return. That will let you see if the model has any issues and also let you get a few more years out of your existing truck.Re: Loading and unloading Motorcycles-The easy wayRe. The Condor: don't the little wheels cause the frame of the loader to high center on the top of the ramp?Re: Loading and unloading Motorcycles-The easy wayThe Stand Disc looks a lot more reasonable, although IMO backing your bike out with all the weight downhill and the front brake used for control seems a lot safer. I also find it more stable to walk beside the bike on the way down than to sit on it.Re: Loading and unloading Motorcycles-The easy wayOuch. ;)
