I towed a 34ft. 7,500 lb. trailer with our Chevy Silverado 1500 all over the south with no problems. Keep your speed below at 65 mph or below and you'll never have a problem. You will use your truck 90 percent of the time not towing anything so why shackle yourself with a monster truck for towing something under 8,000 pounds?Re: Leaking toilet questionsMost likely you have a flush valve that's leaking. Pretty common for Thetford toilets especially back around 2000 to 2010 I believe. Get down on your knees and lean over the toilet and flush it while using a flashlight to look at everything behind it to see where the water is coming from.Re: Not a big enough trailerYou could try to lose them. We used to take our kids on vacation in our travel trailer when they were young. We left them at gas stations and rest areas along the way a couple of times but it didn't do any good 'cause they always found us. :)Re: WD hitch or notThe first time an 18 wheeler passed you towing that trailer doing about 80 mph you would be taking the next exit looking for Camping World to buy a WD hitch with some sway control and a new change of underwear. :BCamping in Destin, FL in 1962I found this old photo where I went camping with my Uncle and Aunt in Destin, FL back in 1962. I'm not sure what the make of the trailer was? Anybody recognize it? I went back to Destin, FL in the late 80s and couldn't believe how the place had grown. In 1962 there was only one RV park there and no motels in the area where we were staying. The RV park was actually in what they call Emerald Beach now. There was one fishing pier about a mile from the RV park and fishing was great off of that pier. Amazingly I was able to find some of the pilings still embedded in the sand on the beach on my trip back in the 80s. I would guess they're long gone now. There were only 3 or 4 other trailers in the park during the time we stayed there. I remember one was an Air Stream owned by a retired military man and his two daughters from Australia. I fell in love with Pedi she was 15 and I was 13. :D If I had known then what I know now I would have bought property that summer instead of buying the motor scooter that I paid $175.00 for. The government was selling, actually giving, property away back then at $14 an acre in the area in order to get people to move there. You couldn't buy an eighth inch square piece of property there for that price today. Re: Vent fan opinionsWe had 3 vent fans in our Rockwood 8315BSS Signature Ultra Lite 34 ft. travel trailer. I ordered one in the bedroom from the factory. Lots of people like us like the noise of a fan while we're sleeping. To bad we spent most of our time in the South where it was 100 plus degrees a lot of the time which was to hot for anything other than the A/C on high. I've seen the temperature at 98 degrees at midnight in Jackson, MS.Re: Outside front trim coming apartPictures are worth a thousand words.Re: 20 Amp House circuit will not power camper, generator willDoes your generator still run everything?Re: Black vs WhiteHaving spent the last 5 years in the hot sun in Mississippi and Georgia in our travel trailer the direction that you park your trailer will have a big impact on how well your A/C cools. We spent a year parked broadside to the evening sun without shade near Jackson, MS where that summer the temperature reached over 100 degrees for something like 35 days in a row and the 15K A/C unit struggled to get the temperature in the low 80s. After that we tried to make sure we were parked with one end or the other of the trailer aimed toward the afternoon sun not broadside. It was the difference between night and day. In 100 degree days parked with the end toward the afternoon sun the unit didn't struggle at all to keep it cool inside and would actually cut off time to time. Of course parking in the shade will keep you cool but I'd rather fight the heat as tree sap on my trailer anyday. We tried that once and once was enough. Pine tar is nearly impossible to get off.
