From Texas to Washington and to Prince Rupert. Ferry to Ketchikan. Next ferry was to Sitka. I am glad we did not miss Sitka, very nice. Next to Juneau, then to Haines. Then on to Tok. Looking at the weather, we decided to go south first, to Valdez, then the ferry to Whittier and explored the Kenai. Anchorage, Denali, and Fairbanks was next, as well as all points on the way. The Arctic Circle was on our bucket list. A stop at North Pole to send granddaughter a post card. It was a big hit. Up the Taylor Hwy to Chicken and Top of the World Hwy to Dawson City. At Whitehorse we decided to skip Skagway. We did not want to face a mob of people like we saw in Ketchikan. Be sure to bring a sign for the Sign Forrest at Watson Lake. We took a side trip up the Liard Hwy to the border of Northwest Territories, to add to our list of visited places. On to Dawson Creek, the Icefields Parkway and Glacier National Park. We had to be back by mid August when our Daughter-in-law was due. A wonderful trip, our 1973 Class B had no problems, no flat tires, no cracked windshield. We spent $1,029.20 for the ferry, $4,730.00 for gas and $1,448.50 for camping fees. We boondocked some, but the boss likes a campground, even if there is no services, like water or electric. We had no problems at border crossings, no problems on the ferry, they know what they are doing. We got a cabin for the overnight from Ketchikan to Sitka, but people were sleeping in chairs. We used the Church Book more than the Milepost, but you should get both books. Take your time and explore.Re: EZ pass with class cHi. I have a class B with an overhang like a C. I stuck my EZ Pass as well as my Texas pass lower on the windshield, but not where the wipers would block the view. Just a little on the passenger side of center. We spent 6 weeks in New England (and Canada) with no problems. The North Texas pass, which also works in Oklahoma, has never been a problem for the 17 years we have owned our camper van. If that does not work, I think they have one that attaches to the front license plate.Re: total rewire/rebuild of 1979Lots of info here. 12 volt side of lifeRe: ballpark cost to rebuild engin/tranny; Roadtrek 190 popularI have a 73 Superior Coach wide body van, Chevy 350 (5.7). The whole body is 18 inches wider, bumper to bumper. A pretty rare van. In 2012 the engine died. I wanted to get away from the quadrajet that I could not keep adjusted. I bot a 91 van $800. Had engine rebuilt $1100 and trany $1200. Swapped out the wires and computer and installed engine & tranny myself. Swapped out other stuff like steering wheel. Now I have fuel injection, overdrive tranny, tilt wheel, variable speed wipers and such. Went from 8-9 mpg with carb to 11-12 mpg with fuel injection. Now have 30,000 miles on the new engine. I am a happy camper. Hope that gives you some help with cost.Re: Average age of RV'ersWife and I got first camper in early 70's shortly after marriage. We are now on our 4th camper and still going strong at age 72 and 74.Re: Dash mounted aftermarket GPSNuvi 1450 sits on the dash all the time. 12,540 miles to Alaska and back, no problem. I have a B, but it has a big overhang like a C. On edit, I see you are new here. Welcome aboard.Re: East Texas RV CampingTyler Oaks on 69 south of I 20 and north of Loop 323. 430-235-2030. I have not been there but have reservations for next month.Re: My B and a question? Why all the discussion over letters of the alphabet? Why not just call it "looking good."Re: major league parksWe have been to 29 ballparks. Red Sox were out of town when we were in Boston. Never tried to overnight at the park. When it worked out, we parked in a remote lot and used public transportation. We have a Class B and can fit in a regular parking spot. Some ball parks wanted us to pay a lot more and park in a special bus / rv lot. I was able to avoid the special lots so far. Boston is next spring, we will plan in using the public transportation. It is quite fun to explore all the parks and sample the food.
