If you're lucky enough to get a spot in the Green Loop you could put your kayak in at your site (or at the small pier in the loop). It's stunning at sunset. Now that we're a beast of a class A, we'll only fit in a couple spots. But our 30" TT got into many of them beautifully. http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/point-lookout-state-park/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=MD&parkId=380518Re: What did you do to your Class A MH today???Received the new covers for the 2 captains chairs and the sofa today...DH started putting them on. Woohoo! No more peely, flakey black upholstery! Tires are in, so we made the appt. for the girl to get 6 new shoes. Hooray for safety! Removed all the window cornices so I can start reupholstering them.Re: Family activities near Assateague Island/Ocean City spoon059 wrote: Rehoboth Beach to your north is a much more "family friendly" boardwalk than OC. Lots of alcohol and young kids making stupid decisions in OC. Rehoboth has good food, a clean beach, a nice amusement park and fun shops. Great safe fun place to walk around. Lewes is also a great little town. Lots of restaurants and cool shops, historic houses and family friendly walkability. We love Lewes. Cape Henlopen State Park is also up at that little corner and our family LOVES it. It costs a couple dollars to get in but has great bike trails, a restored WW2 army base and observation tower you can climb and look out over the ocean and coast. I could have written every last word of this! Agree...Rehoboth is FAR better for families than Ocean City. As an 18 year old living in OC, MD for the summer it was mecca...as a mom...there's no way I'm taking my kids there. Lewes is a GREAT town and Cape Henlopen is my favorite beach in the Mid-Atlantic. ENJOY your trip!Re: Newbie! How do I stock my Camper?Congrats!!! You guys will have a BLAST. Best thing we ever did as a family was purchase our hybrid TT 6 years ago. My DH does most of the "systems" stuff. I set us up with a complete (but cheap) kitchen set…dishes, silverware, serving utensils, pots and pans, some basic spices I kept in for the full season. Separate bedding sets and pillows, towels and washcloths and I even stock the bathroom like I do at home. Your kids are younger than mine, but I stock art supplies and fill a bin with LEGOs (since we have just over a trillion of them) to keep in the camper. Pick up a Weber Baby-Q grill…veggie burgers and veggie kabobs will taste great on it! We love ours. Get some fun lights to hang from your awning…kitschy but fun. :) Pack your comfy camp chairs and bring along a plastic tablecloth for the picnic table. The only thing I pack is clothes and food for each trip. Happy camping!Re: Full Timing it? - 3 Kids, 2 Adults and a ChihuahuahHUGE congrats on the rig purchase AND being SO close to heading out. I'm crazy jealous! We're hoping to do the same within the year. We have our rig and it's getting some updates (tires etc) and we're getting the house sale ready. Alaska in the summer sounds wonderful. Let us know how the shakedown trip goes! Maybe we'll see you on the road. Lots of FT families with kids out there...Re: 8 hrs from MD, fun for kids, 50 amp, prefer state parks? You guys are just the bomb! Thank you for the amazing recommendations! I have MUCH to research. We added Maine to the list since we haven't been (except a 30 hour round trip weekend to pick up a 1926 Old Town canoe to restore!). Eastern TN/Western NC still close to the top of the list. There's a nice looking (at least online) KOA in Cherokee NC. I'm now thinking Pigeon Forge might be too commercialized/kitschy/tourist-trappy. Same reason I loathe Ocean City, MD, but love Cape Henlopen State Park (and one night on the small Rehoboth boardwalk for the little guys). Myrtle Beach might be pushing it distance-wise...took us 10 hours a lifetime ago before kids and speeding in a car (so said the officer in Virginia)...with the moho, 2 wild little boys and a wild lab...might take quite a bit longer! Thanks so much everyone!!! Off to research vacation spots...I mean WORK. Yes, work. PS. those of you near MD...Tuckahoe State Park is AWESOME, has 30 amp service and quite a few big-rig friendly sites. Just made our 4th of July reservations. Easy drive to St. Mike's for the day.Re: What a day! Bad accident on the way to get TTOh man…even at a low speed I know that must have been scary as he!!. So glad you weren't injured…could have been a lot worse on a highway. Take a few deep breaths and get out there to find your new truck AND camper. Best of luck to you!Re: 8 hrs from MD, fun for kids, 50 amp, prefer state parks? You guys rock. FANTASTIC input!! I looooove the Raystown Lake enthusiasts…isn't it FANTASTIC!? We stumbled on it a few years back and stayed at the resort (in our TT) once and at the corps of engineers park once. Both amazing. We're planning on going back this summer for a long weekend (about 4 hrs from us). Lantley—it was another post of yours that got me thinking about where we could go new this year…so thanks! Loved all your suggestions. Leaning towards the smokey mountains right now. We feel like we've been darn near everywhere within 4 hours of us (harford county MD) and we've never headed in this direction. Any campgrounds suggestions close-ish to Pigeon Forge? We're also planning a fairly major change (selling the house, road schooling the kids, doing a loop around the country) so I'm adding these suggestions!8 hrs from MD, fun for kids, 50 amp, prefer state parks?Pipe dream? Trying to think of somewhere new to take our 6 and 8 year old boys (and our lab!) for a week's vacation this summer. We've been to the ADKs in NY and down the east coast to the NC beaches. Thinking Niagra Falls and Four Mile Creek State Park, but not sure what else, besides the falls, there is to do around there. Thought about Asheville NC…dying to see the Biltmore…but what else to do? Maybe Pigeon Forge? Sounds like quite a bit to do, but that may be a very, very long trip? Where else could we go? We have a 38' moho and will want 50 amp electric, but other hook ups don't matter much. We prefer state park-type atmospheres (and prices) though I know that's tough now that our rig is so darn big. Looking forward to any input! :)Williamsburg Furniture contacts????Hi All, Our new-to-us 2009 Georgetown's williamsburg furniture pieces (capt. chairs and sofa) look like a snake shedding it's skin…or a disgustingly mangey dog…or a bird molting its feathers. I know from reading the forums that folks have had limited success getting the company to stand behind their products, but I feel like I need to TRY before shelling out a few grand for all new RV furniture. WF makes it VERY difficult to actually find a name, title and contact number/email. I'm even checking out LinkedIn and Facebook to see if I can find actual human contacts. No luck so far. Maybe I should hire a PI. ;) Anyone have names or contact info for anyone there?????
