We used the Equal-i-zer brand weight distribution hitch to tow our trailer, and I had removed the hitch during our stay to get it out of the way. We hitched up and headed home. When we got home, I was unhitching the trailer and realized that I'd forgotten to put in the hitch pin. Yes, I towed a trailer for several hours with nothing preventing the hitch from slipping out except the pressure applied by the W-D system. Really dumb, and really fortunate.Re: Winnebago View 24H sofa replacementI don't have a View but mine is identical to the View H floorplan. Like you, our jacknife sofa sloped down badly toward the aisle and was generally pretty lumpy and uncomfortable as a bed. I removed the cushions, added some steel tubing as supports, tried to level it as much as possible, and covered it with plywood. We initially tried using a futon mattress but found it really heavy and difficult to deal with. After returning the futon, we started asking around at local furniture shops and found one that could get custom cushions made nearby. The cushions cost us around $400 but we are really happy with the result. I still have the OEM cushions and they can be put back if it's ever necessary. Here's a link to one of the View owners who went the futon route: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/View-NavionTech/conversations/topics/33982 Note that this post is in the Tech forum and you'll probably need to join if you haven't already.Re: Fridge hose on outside?I just replaced the brittle and broken hose on my Dometic unit. From the outside access I was fortunately able to see and reach the spot where it attaches to the drain, without having to move the whole fridge forward. I replaced the hose with some clear 1/2" ID vinyl tubing, and I did add a loop as a trap. This Youtube video provides a lot of good information. The OEM drain plug is available on Amazon but you can find replacements much cheaper on eBay (for example, this listing).Re: Livermore, CA RV park?? monthly/ weekly rentThere aren't any RV parks in Livermore. The closest campground is at Lake Del Valle but I'm sure the sites with RV hookups are booked all summer. I think his best bet will be the RV park at the fairgrounds in Pleasanton. He would have about a 15-minute (reverse) commute to Livermore.Re: Onan propane generator not startingjdog, I recently had a similar problem with the same generator model as yours. It would crank fine but not start. After checking all of the simple things, I gave up and took it to the Cummins shop in San Leandro. I hovered nearby so that I could see what he was doing. He didn't seem to mind. Here's what he tried: * Removed the vent hose at the top of the engine, blew through it, tried to start with the hose disconnected (no luck) * Verified that the fuel solenoid was clicking when depressing the Stop/Prime button * Used a meter to check the solenoid lead * Disconnected the generator from the RV propane supply and connected his own tank with regulator (no luck) * Removed the spark plug and checked the gap spacing * Disconnected the internal fuel hose and tested the gas pressure when the solenoid is active (pressure was good) * Removed the valve cover and checked the springs and spacing * Removed the control module (solenoid switch is mounted to the top of the module), disconnected the wire bundle from the underside of the module, checked a couple of pins in the bundle with a meter After reinstalling the spark plug and valve cover, reconnecting the fuel hose and the wire bundle, it started right up. If it hadn't, his next test would have been to bypass the generator's fuel regulator. If it was a problem with the regulator, it would have meant pulling the whole generator out. Fortunately that wasn't necessary. His best guess is the culprit was the wire bundle. He noticed some pins that looked out of place and he spent some time adjusting them. I have a 2007 Gulfstream Vista Cruiser Mini. Hope it helps!Re: central california coastNever been to Pismo Sands but we spent a couple nights at Morro Dunes recently and liked it. We stayed in one of the loops along Embarcadero and had an awesome view of Morro Rock right out our window. Each loop has a gate to the street, so access to the beach across the road is very convenient. The gates are locked after dark and opened again in the morning. Staff was friendly, store was well-stocked, plenty of restaurants nearby, and my wife gave their shower facilities a thumbs up.Re: What Did You Do in your Sprinter Based RV Today?Let's see, in the two months since we bought it used: New tires & gator caps New Fantastic vent & cover Replaced bath faucet Added built-in soap dispensers in kitchen & bath New (quieter) water pump Replaced smoke/CO2 & propane detectors Added Quickie flush to black tank LED light bulbs Relocated toilet paper holder Re-caulked seams on roof & front cap Replaced anode rod Installed heavy duty rear sway bar Re: Looking for RV mechanic/electrician in East Bay CAI don't have a recommendation, fortunately I haven't needed a repair shop yet. What problems are you having?Re: Trailer Hitch Cargo Carrier for Roadtrek RS AdventurerMaybe something like this would work.Re: 2008 Gulfstream Vista Mini Cruiser model 4231We just bought a 2007 model 4230, our first motorhome. So far we really like it. One word of caution: Watch out for the automatic step, it's really low! It's not a problem if all you're doing is driving on nicely paved, even roads. We were on the coast this weekend, and I dragged it as I was crossing Hwy 1 from one parking area to another. I'm pretty sure I'll be permanently removing that step, I don't like worrying about it. Enjoy your trip and your RV.
