First trip out in mine, I did have a complaint that the sewer pipe elbow won't fit, so it rides in the bed of the truck now, but rust eating up the hose...never considered it. Info like this is what this website is all about.Re: Who's idea was it?Cool mod guys...but, why? I understand some don't have the square bumper to store the hose in, but some of the pictures above show a lonely square bumper and the fence post mod. Why is the fence post better than the bumper that is already there?Re: Post Pictures of Your Most Recent Camping Trips Here!Great pictures Sinnettc!Re: Power awning questionI'm still undecided on the location of where to mount it. I see benefits (and cons) of both sides. Under the awning on the side of the RV: Pros - Can use whether awning is deployed or not. Neater appearance Cons - Lights blinding when walking up to the unit, pointing at you Short plug in connection dangling when driving On the awning itself: Pros - Gives the patio area a glow from afar, rather than seeing actual LED strip. No chance of it blowing off when going down the highway since it's rolled up Cons - Not as neat looking with power cord going to it Awning has to be deployed to use it I have a few days before my strip arrives to finalize the placement.Re: Power awning question APT wrote: I used lights that hung from awning for a year before getting something like this LED kit. Way way way way way better. Roll up with the awning. whatever color to match our mood. Thanks for the many comments! I just ordered the LED kit linked in the above post. Thanks! Anybody wanna buy a rope light? :BRe: Power awning questionThanks wmoses. I saw those in the store the day I bought the others (didn't know the awning didn't allow access to the groove/channel at that point), but they didn't look like they'd work for rope lights (appeared the plastic would break if attempted to open that far to insert the rope), but rather for the small wire Christmas type strands.Re: Power awning questionJust to add, here is a pic that shows the type of groove I'm talking about (not the same type of clips, but they operate the same). Whereas the groove on this awning continues through the end cap, mine doesn't. The end cap blocks access to it. Power awning questionQuick question for you guys. Just bought a North Trail FX23 with power awning. It works flawlessly. Being the tacky sort (and wanting to join in the tradition), we bought a rope light and the types of hooks that slide into the awning rail to hang the rope light. My problem is...our awning has the grooves, but the end cap on both ends of the awning cover up the entrance to the groove...which is where the hooks would slide in. The clips we bought are fabric, so they could roll up in the awning, but how do I get them on? Can I take one of the end caps off temporarily? I have nightmare images of removing the end cap to access the groove, and springs and various other pieces flying off into the grass. Thoughts?Re: HEY we need a sticky for our TT pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ReneeG wrote: Welcome to the forums Mr. and Mrs. radioadam! Nice looking rig too and what a nice night to camp in listening to the rain hit the top of your rig. That's my favorite way of camping. Love it. The worst day camping in the rain beats the best day working at the office! What is that black round thing just above the wheel well, a decal? Thanks for the welcome! Sleeping with the sound of rain falling on the roof was nice indeed...though I felt bad knowing just a few sites over were about 40 boy scouts in tents. They made a quick departure this morning! Lol...that is a pedastal oscillating fan we had to keep the gnats (not to mention heat & mosquitos) away. Gnats...one of the pleasures of south GA!Re: HEY we need a sticky for our TT pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Just joined up this week after lurking for a while, but this is my first post. Picked up our 2012 North Trail FX23 by Heartland yesterday from Camping World (good grief at the run around from that place, but that's another story for another day). I was bound and determined to give it a test run at General Coffee State Park since it's only about 5 miles from home. It rained all night (after we went to bed, and was drizzling this morning, but we had a great time nonetheless). Yesterday, before the rain started, we were walking around the camp group and came across an oak snake crossing the road. I quickly grabbed it up (to near heart attack screams from the DW). My son (and a nearby cub scout group that was camping) appreciated it though. No pics of the snake (the cub scout group took plenty, but we didn't...my hands were full lol!). Anyhow...here's a few pics from our maiden voyage!
