The house cabover is going to prevent that.Re: freshwater pump maddening problemTurn the bypass valves to the water heater to take that out of the pressurized part of the system. If the pump holds pressure then, it is something with the water heater.Re: Interstate 80 through PennsylvaniaTowed across I-80 many times. including trips with a 20,000lb GCW V10 Class C towing a race car trailer. A few moderate grades; heading west the first one from about 15 miles into PA from Scotrun to 380, about 5 miles. Then a lot of rolling ones for 180 miles with the next pull being west of Clearfield, where the interstate does get to that mentioned 2200' elevation at the PA153 exit before DuBois. Things get flatter after that in the western part of the state.Re: 2005 E450 Ford V10 intermittent misfiresSome decent info so far, some not. The E-Series never got the 3-valve heads with the sticky plugs. The doghouse isn't wide enough for that V10 version. Also, an '04 chassis should have the PI heads with added threads. That said, when changing plugs, torque is critical to have them not loosen and spit. The internet consensus when I researched before doing mine was 28 ft-lbs dry. I will also second the probable issue is a bad coil. I had one go bad on a trip, and got to change it in an Advance Auto Parts parking lot in Virginia Beach after V-9'ing over and through the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel at about 75k miles. A few months and 3k miles later, an intermittent skip at idle after decel started, and I sucked it up and changed all the coils and did plugs at the same time. In an E-Series, definitely not a faint of heart job. Took me 6 hours, and every combination of 1/4" and 3/8" extensions, universals, wobbles ratchets I had. I was able to get the torque wrench on every plug.Re: Where do you put your trash can?In our Ford chassis Class C we have a regular size plastic tall kitchen trash can that fits between the front seats on the floor. That’s always been the trash location, originally using a little bathroom sized container, until we realized a big one would fit. A Sprinter cab is usually more open to the house than with Fords or Chevys, but that spot works for us great.Re: Rear Jolt on 2017 Ford E450 V10 with only 6,300 milesMy guess is something driveshaft related, either the slip yoke at the transmission connection, or on many long wheelbase trucks there is a constant-velocity joint in the center, or a carrier bearing there, that may have some play.Re: Didn't Think Much of These - Screws Under Vinyl Insert TrimAll the screws were there when I replaced that vinyl trim on my Class C a couple of years ago. The problem was that while the trim was in OK condition, the motorhome had been built in July in the heat of the summer, and the trim pulled super tight before being screwed in at each end. Every winter in the cold northeast it shrank and pulled out of the track. As it got older, what little elasticity it had got less and less, and eventually it just wouldn’t stay in. This led to a couple of times it completely coming out of the track while driving, coincidentally each occasion being in busy conditions on I-294 going around Chicago. Fun times to pull over and pop it back in by hand. When I replaced both sides, I did it in 50-55 degree weather, and did not stretch it at all. Holding up fine. The original install was yet another example of the fine workmanship we’ve all experienced.Re: Discovered a serious problemForest River Class C’s use Azdel composite in the laminated walls, not luan, so there shouldn’t be anything to rot or delaminate, as it’s impervious to water and will not swell. A picture is needed of the affected area. I have an 11+ y.o. Forest River Class C with almost 100k miles that’s been outside every day since it’s been built, and the house is solid, with just regular body seam maintenance.Re: "Godzilla" Ford V 8If someone has only ever twisted their Ford V10 to 3500rpm max, that’s one slow ride. The one in my E450 cutaway in normal driving will generally upshift at 4k. Any hill will drop it from 5th to 4th, with an rpm jump from 2500 to 4000. It has had numerous foot to the floor moves where the 5R110 will shift at 5000. The Coyote in my F150 rips upshifts at 5900. In Mustangs, the same motor with different cams is redlined at 7000. But back to the Godzilla, it was my understanding too the HD and light duty versions make the same power, just on a different ratings scale for each. And I’ll bet the transmissions WOT shift at the same 5500 rpm or higher in either too.Re: Credit Cards For Fuel DiscountsI have a Sam’s Club branded MasterCard that doubles as my membership card there, that gives me 5% back on gas purchases anywhere. So for every $5/gallon, I’m getting back 25 cents. On a $175 motorhome fill, that’s $8.75. They used to do payouts only at your anniversary date, but recently changed to be able to access the rewards monthly. I just use the card to buy gas, and typically get several hundred dollars a year back in my pocket.
