We do not want to tow TT beyond the I-75 /I-10 area, but leave it in a storage lot for a week. We will continue to Orlando and stay in our condo for a week, the return to our stored TT and pick up to continue to Houston, TX. Can any of our fellow RV'ers suggest a place to store the RV in the Lake City area securely for a week. We want to store the TT close to the I-75/ I-10 interchange area if possible. Thanking all in advance for any suggestions.Storing/Parking TT in North Fla. off I-75/I10We are traveling from Indy to Florida in June towing our 35 ft. travel trailer. We are looking for a location in N. Florida near the I-75-I-10 intersection to park/store our TT for 6 to 8 days for a reasonable fee. We will travel on to our condo in Orlando for a week before returning to pick up our TT and travel on I-10 to Houston, TX. We would appreciate any suggestions for safe locations to drop our TT at a reasonable expense for a secure site to leave the TT traveling down and pick it up 6 to 8 days later to continue to Texas. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanking all in advance for your suggestions.Re: Pressure treated lumberI set my TT on 2X6X10 treated to keep it from causing tire divots on my asphalt driveway. They have worked well for years.Re: towing mileage of trucksOkay, for you guys who think my mechanic is full of it. Would you experts recommend spending about $2,000 for the lift pump and tuner for increased MPG of at least 15 MPG+. Other ideas?Re: towing mileage of trucksI have a 2007 Chevy Dually Diesel w/ Allison transmission that I tow a 37 foot TT with. I generally get 10 to 11 mpg towing on relative flat roads. Worse in the hills. My diesel mechanic has recommended that I add an Air Dog 150 Lift Pump to significantly increase my mpg as a beginning fix. Cost will be around $900 installed. He also recommends adding a EFI Live Duramax Tuner at a later date. Cost for this will be in the same range. When all is complete, he says I should get around 20+ mpg while towing. Has anybody else completed these upgrades? If you have, what results are you getting and would you recommend this upgrade?Re: covering the trailerBy ground, I am thinking of grass or paved driveway, etc., not dirt.Re: covering the trailerIf you are talking about a regular RV cover, then set it up on the ground by laying it out with the all the zippers and straps showing. Start folding each side of the cover along the long side in towards the middle of the cover (about 2-3 feet for each fold). When you reach the middle of the cover for each folded side, fold one side over the other. Now, fold each end toward the middle (again 2-3 feet for each fold). When you finish, you should have a bundle all folded to the middle. To put the cover on your RV, carry it to the roof and place it in the middle of the roof (Remember which end of the cover is on top and point it in the right directions. Having to turn it around after unfolding is a royal pain.) Unfold the cover to the back and front of the RV, then unfold to each side and drop it over the side (Check to make sure the zippers end up on the entry door side) Finish tying down the cover and you are done. Tie the cover down well so it will not flop around in the wind and wear on the RV. An additional suggestion, if you live in a climate with significant rain or snow, go to your local Dollar Tree or equivalent store and purchase 3 or 4 cheap laundry baskets (the rectangular type). As you are preparing to put the cover on, lay the laundry baskets wrong side up and length wise down the RV. This will give you a tent effect to allow the rain and snow to drain off the roof and keep the cover fairly clean. Trying to put the cover on from the ground is a major effort and a real pain in the rear. (I learned this from experience.) If your start from the roof of the RV, it will go alot easier.Re: Jack Antenna DiedIt is a full Jack system factory installed on a 2016 TT.Re: windows 10 updateI purchased a laptop with Windows 10 64 bit. It worked OK when I first got it. On the first major update from Microsoft, many of the apps that came on the laptop quit working. If you click on the icon to start the app, the icon flashes on the screen and does nothing more. Has anyone else had or has this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?Jack Antenna DiedWhile on a trip to South Texas recently, we were set up in a campground. On Saturday morning, we were watching one of 123 channels in the Houston area when all of a sudden, the TV started to act up. I went to check the Jack antenna and watched it shut down completely. It no longer works. I went checking for a circuit breaker for the antenna and found none. Has anyone else had a problem with a Jack Antenna system like this? It was in the low 90's when this occurred.
