Now we are wondering if we should do the same...put an extra coolant system on ours.....Re: First Time Buyer...Updated 03/06/2006To: AZGl1500: We are newbies and are planning on towing. We have a book describing how to use the transmission but do you have advice for us that may be better or a little more helpful???? Sometimes words from the wise is so much more useful....Thanks very much.... Wanda:)Re: First Time Buyer...Updated 03/06/2006Hi I was told to stick to MH's that are not considered "orphans". It was recommended that I stick to Newmar, Winnebago or Tiffan. Hope that helps. I ended up with a VERY CLEAN 2004 Winnebago Sightseer with 37500. I have only owned it for a week so only time will tell. I have a brother who owns a Newmar and a sister who owns a Winnebago. Good luck WandaRe: First Time Buyer...Updated 03/06/2006Hi My husband and I looked (on line) for over a year and had some sound advice from this site and from people we know. What it came down to for us was what we wanted to spend as first time buyers.....would we really like it enough to warrant spending a lot and because it is the first time for hubby to drive anything bigger than a Jetta ....size. We settled on a nice 30 ft Winnebago Sightseer (2004) that has everything we need to start out. Winnebago was one of the ones recommended as they have been around a long time and we know many people who started out the same way. Newmar's were also highly recommended. Anyway we have yet to pick ours up (next week) so wish us luck. WandaRe: Choosing Gasoline or Diesel Powered?Thanks...more food for thought...EH! hahahahaha... I drive a diesel car and LOVE it but of course it isn't a truck and diesel here is reasonable but since we plan to travel in the US that changes the situation. My diesel car is no more expensive than my gas car, as the mechanic I go to is local (not a dealership) and is very reasonable but MH are a whole other story from what I have been reading and advice I have been getting from other sources. Perhaps going with a newer gas model is best especially since we don't even know if it is what we want (I do but hubby is a whole other story). I hardly ever see diesel's driving by on the highways in these parts....they are always gas. I have a sister who owns a smaller gas and loves it(she is more of a parker and it is her first) and a brother who has a diesel and swears that is the only way to go (he is a driver and has owned a couple of each)..... ahhhhhhh.....and they BOTH want what is best for LITTLE sister!!!!!:S Back to the drawing board..... Love the input ...keep it coming.... Wanda :)Re: Choosing Gasoline or Diesel Powered? Thanks for the input. We are planning on doing extensive traveling for a couple of years at least. We hope to cross Canada and then tour as much of the USA as possible and then who knows from there. Anyway we will keep looking and keep logging in to get more info from this sight (which by the way is full of info and VERY HELPFUL!!!! ) Thanks again WandaRe: First Time Buyer...Updated 03/06/2006Hi I am not only a newbie looking for advice I am new at this. Thought I posted it once but not sure it worked. I should probably stick to driving my little car.... Anyway, my question is....when buying a used GAS RV, what kind of mileage should we be looking at. We know diesels are built for longevity but what about gas motors???? Thanks WandaRe: Choosing Gasoline or Diesel Powered?OK I have found all the info regarding gas vs dp very interesting and helpful but what I would like to know is... how many miles/kms can be put on a gas motor? We are looking to buy our first (and used) motor home. Like some have said diesel is made for durability and can last a long time but what about gas? (I know that also depends on how well it was maintained). Thanks Wanda
