New truck is now rigged with SuperHitch & Extension, Talons all around. The lower SLs will finish the job (for now, of course, there always something else to add...). Ready for some fall camping!Re: Ram 3500 2011 to a 2016 Ram 3500In an interesting offline conversation with finsruskw, we've determined that the SRW 3500 doesn't have an overload spring (my truck is a 2016), but the DRW does have one (his truck is a 2015), so he could use an upper stableload, but I can't. On the flip side, I can more easily use a lower stableload as my lower helper spring is predrilled and has a rubber bumper in it from the factory. Mine is shown here. Randy Re: Ram 3500 2011 to a 2016 Ram 3500Finished my SuperHitch install yesterday on the 2016 3500 and everything was a very tight fit. The photo below shows my solution for the top bolt of the "7 strap" which protrudes through the heat shield, just a 1" hole saw... The spare tire is very snug! The 48" SuperTruss Extension was a piece of cake, just heavy. Randy Re: Anyone install front hitch on new trucks?I'm about to put on a Curt (curtmfg.com) front receiver on my 2016 3500 as the height is lower. I'm adding a Snowsport plow and will also use it for my bike rack. The plow required a working height on the receiver between 8-16".above grade. RandyRe: Ram 3500 2011 to a 2016 Ram 3500Finsruskw - Sent you a PM with my email. Thanks for your help! No direction from Torklift yet, but I just sent them the 15 photos I took and their head engineer is on vacation this week. I'm also seeing some excellent highway miles with the 6.4L Hemi, but haven't loaded up the TC yet until I get the Torklift SuperHitch/Tie-downs installed. I ran into an issue with my 2016 3500 yesterday which was different than my 2013 2500 (I don't know what the 2013 3500 was like). Maybe someone who has a 2013-2015 3500 can tell me if my 2016 is different. The photo below shows a heat shield and a new-to-me piece of 2"O.D. tube frame that supports the heat shield and connects the box frame pieces on both sides. The heat shield protects the spare tire from the exhaust pipe and muffler and it appears that the tube frame is a support for it. The tube frame piece juts into the box frame piece right at the hole I'm supposed to use for one of the bolts for the "7" piece for the SuperHitch, fishing the bolt through the box frame, but there's now no room to fish the bolt. Sent the photo to Torklift and I'm sure they'll find a solution. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this and if so, how you solved it. RandyRe: Ram 3500 2011 to a 2016 Ram 3500Forgot to update my signature, bad habit! I don't know about the OP, but I did go with the Laramie (not the Laramie Longhorn) and it's a ton better than the SLT, I love it! Also got the factory running boards and spray-in liner. RandyRe: Ram 3500 2011 to a 2016 Ram 3500Nice truck! Two weeks ago I got my own 2016 3500, but a SRW, 6.4L Hemi, short bed. Like yours, the first ordered and off the lot from the dealer. I'm working with Torklift on the "fit" as someone mentioned earlier. Should receive the packages today. They suspect the same units will fit as the '15 truck, and I'm putting the Talons and SuperHitch on. I should know on the fit soon...Re: Bike Rack BuildNeat idea! How necessary is it to have two separate positions for the bikes? Is it only when you're on the "unmaintained roads"? Just wondering...Re: Northern Lite 8'11" Q Classic Special EditionThe rig looks great, congratulations! We just got our 2012 NL QSE 811 in January and have been getting it ready for camping lately ourselves. NL makes a great camper!
