Check with your insurance carrier. Happened to me a couple of years ago. Friends came to visit while I was setting up after arriving. I had just rolled out the awning but had not yet adjusted the angle for water run off. Flash flood thunderstorm came along and I heard the loud pop as the support arm gave way. I called my agent just in case I had coverage for being asleep at the wheel. He said yes and that it happens quite often. The insurance company replaced the entire awning, support arms and all. Terminology so that we are all on the same page. Front landing gear raises and lowers the pin box to hitch and unhitch and to later level front to back. These jacks can be "pinned". Stabilizer jacks are usually hand cranked down to stabilize unit after it is level and are not "pinned" Hydraulic landing gear is not pinned. Next time you do your homework, you might have the wife check it for you. I would think you would have known that tidbit about Thor buying DVR. I think I would give you a C- at best for missing that in your research. By the way, I have owned two HR products, Alumalite and Presidential fifth wheels and both were good units. Now own at MS and believe me as an owner of both brands, you are talking apples and oranges in comparison. It's not the bugs, it's the bug juice that causes the problem. Screen will clog and engine will heat up some as mentioned in the earlier post. As a long time FL resident (60 yr), the best solution I have found so far is a good coat or two of wax. Wash off bug juice daily and you should be OK. And yes, I have tried the "dryer sheets", the "Pam" and a dozen other remedies but other problems are created when using some of the remedies. My experience over the years towing three different size fifth wheels with 3 ford trucks has been as follows: 32' or less, ok with 3.73 rear end ration 32' - 35' - go for a 4.10 ratio 35' - 38 - shoot for a 4:30 ratio 38' and over- buy a class 8 and single it out. Lots of variables (I know) especially weights as the higher end fifth wheels tend to weigh more. I presently have an F450 with a 4:30 ratio (6.0 diesel) and average around 10.4 on flat land here in Fl. at 63 mph. I am towing a 35' HR. I towed the same 35' HR with an F350 w/4.10 ratio and it towed fine. However, I felt on the edge many times with the brakes, etc on the f350 DRW. If you have two and one conks out, you are moving out until repairs are made. With three and one conking out, you can still manage. Also, with three you will get a 10kw generator which then gives you the option of having 220v available for a dryer should you go full time. Most often the generator will take priority over the shore power. This involves a transfer switch that will prevent a back feed into the shore power. However, to be safe and not try to outguess how your coach is setup, unplug from shore power first and then start generator as 2oldman suggested. Outside the box approach would be to rent a concrete saw and saw out width and length you need for your dual wheels. Dig out 14" of dirt put some mesh and steel in the now level depression in your drive and get a few bags of sakcreet and repour the area you cut out. May be more work than you want to do but in the future if things change, you could always re-pour it. I am assuming you driveway is uphill and you are backing in and that you chassis clearance would allow this to work. You would need a plate of some type to put over the cutout when the coach is not there.386Views0likes0Comments
