They can't haul much, are they the grocery getters of the truck world? Yeah, pretty much. You want to haul something buy a real truck. I'm looking at Ram 2500's for the near future.Re: 1/2 ton trucks?I'm the OP, it was simply a question to get others opinions on 1500's, nothing more, nothing less. If this question has offended some of you, well, it has, I'm not going to apologize for asking a simple question.Re: Advice ?Mod, lock it up ThanksRe: 1/2 ton trucks? diazr2 wrote: dshelley wrote: Gebrown wrote: So whats the point in 1/2 ton trucks? Some people are just like that. No real purpose just want to see people get riled. You know kind of like an appendix . Doesn't really do anything except make you sick..... Yes, I asked this question just to rile you up, how did you know??? For the people who actually contributed to the topic, thanks..Re: 1/2 ton trucks? intheburbs wrote: I towed a 5000-lb travel trailer with my half-ton Burb. Several trips to Florida and one to Yellowstone with a family of 5. 4000-lb rear axle was the weak link. Just made frequent stops at the scales to check my weights. Also used it to pull a 3500-lb cargo trailer. Pulled just fine. Wow, how did that do when it was windy? Nice looking setup and family by the way.Re: 1/2 ton trucks? dshelley wrote: Gebrown wrote: So whats the point in 1/2 ton trucks? Seems most people on here have bigger trucks or recommend trucks larger than 1/2 tons when it comes to towing TH's or TT's.1/2 ton trucks? So whats the point in 1/2 ton trucks? They can't haul much, are they the grocery getters of the truck world?Re: Small divided toy haulerCoachmen 301BLDS has a glass sliding door. The Hyper Lite 27 HFS has a separate garage but not a sliding glass door. What do you want to know about bumper pull TH's? I've been researching them for about two months now. I stopped looking as of today, My 08 Ram 1500 won't tow anything. Your tow vehicle is important, what are you looking to get?Re: Advice ?I/we decided we are not going to go this route, in fact we are not going to get a toy hauler or travel trailer or anything. I wimped out because my truck won't do it. Anyway, just wanted to stop by and say thanks for all the advice.Re: Advice ?The inside of the door jam says up to 8750. It does have the tow pkg with the 3.92 gears and the 5.7L Hemi. This is off my build sheet: AHC Trailer Tow Group DGQ 5-Spd Automatic 545RFE Transmission DMHS 3.92 Rear Axle Ratio DRBS Corporate 9.25 LD Rear Axle EZB 5.7L V8 HEMI MDS Engine NHBP Auxiliary Transmission Oil Cooler NMCP Heavy Duty Engine Cooling SHAS Front Stabilizer Bar XFHP Class IV Receiver Hitch XFKP 7 Pin Wiring Harness XFUS Trailer Tow w/4-Pin Connector Wiring It says the following but since the previous owner put a lift on it I'm not sure if this still applies: SFBS Front Heavy Duty Shock Absorbers SGBS Rear Heavy Duty Shock Absorbers So, that's what my truck has, this is straight off the build sheet from Dodge, of course there's a lot more but I didn't include stuff like the seats and interior color etc.
