I don't have a zipper but I sure have cleaned a lot of new ones!Re: What features help you keep RVing?Great ideas!Re: We're going to full time for a year, looking for a new home.I find Cheyenne a wonderful place to live. I grew up in Florida and do NOT miss the heat or humidity. It can get warm in the summers (usually 80s, 5-10 days per year in the 90s) but the humidity is so low that an inexpensive swamp cooler keeps me perfectly comfortable. We can have stretches in the winter of up to a week where the temps get down to -20sF, but they are usually sunny and if I don't want to deal with bundling up, I just stay inside. Local medical care is decent and U of Colorado health centers in Denver are only 100 miles away - I am in kidney failure, local nephrologist follows me and sends me to UC if something is questionable or I need a procedure. However, we are at 6000 feet elevation so not a good choice for anyone with lung/breathing issues.Re: Roof maitenanceGreat timing on this thread. I've just been wondering what I should do on my new-to-me 1988 Winnie Superchief to keep the roof watertight over the winter. Especially since neither DH nor I can climb up to do it ourselves, so we will need to find someone to do it for us.Re: Can the height of Kwikee electric steps be adjusted? It also doesn't help that I'm not techie so a lot of explanations go right over my head. However, I'm very good at asking a repair person "can the frame or bracket be repositioned so the step is higher?" lol We need a "don't even know what questions to ask" forum. It never occurred to me before I bought the step that they weren't adjustable but could be ordered in different configurations. Gonna wind up being an expen$ive lesson but that is my own fault.Re: What features help you keep RVing? No offense taken - as I said, I understand people were trying to be helpful.Re: What features help you keep RVing?I'm not easily offended, especially when someone is taking the time to make a suggestion they think will help me. Kindness counts for a lot in my book. However, the purchase has been made and I am happy with it. Of course there are still some tweaks to be made, but DH would shoot me if I wanted to buy a different RV at this point. ;)Re: Can the height of Kwikee electric steps be adjusted? It's a Chevrolet P30 chassis. I'll check the tire size when I can go out without blowing over. lol Interesting that manual steps would drop lower. I was thinking I'd get an actual measurement from bottom of chassis to ground, I noticed in the Kwikee service manual that different models have different rises. I hate to buy another set of electric steps but it still wouldn't cost as much as putting in a wheelchair lift. But this time I will run the numbers first!Re: What features help you keep RVing?Thank you, toedtoes - I know the first few posters meant to be helpful but I was starting to wonder if I was writing in English. I lived in a travel trailer for over a year, and it was a good choice for the point I was at then, but I love motorhome travelling. And I have yet to see a truck I would be willing to climb in and out of on a regular basis. I can't even manage to get into our GMC Suburban. You can put a wheelchair lift in most RVs and I haven't ruled it out. But it's so expensive I'm hoping other options will work out.Re: Can the height of Kwikee electric steps be adjusted? So I can at least ask if the mounting bracket can be moved higher if I can find a competent installer. (This was NOT the only problem with the installer's work, there were 3 things to do and every one was screwed up.) I suspect the answer will still be no as the step looks right against the bottom of the coach when folded. It had a manual 2-step when I bought it. The bottom step kept bumping against the ground, which is why I thought a 1-step would work better. Maybe I need a 1-1/2 step. lol
