It was a very fun and interesting day.Re: Recommendations for an RV resort in Arizona?January, you say??? If you haven't already booked a reservation, you may be out of luck. The Canadians are back this year.Re: Albuquerque Rv campground? zb39 wrote: aerbus32 wrote: We just left Santa Fe Skies RV. I had initially intended to stay at American in Albuquerque (which we last stayed at 8 years ago) or the newer one by the casino a few miles to the west. I haven’t yet posted the Santa Fe review, but it’s unlikely I’ll return. Santa Fe itself has become another homeless pit. Every time I got out the the truck, except once, I was approached for a handout. Once aggressively. (At 68, 6’3”, 232lbs., used to be third degree black belt that stills lifts when I’m not on the road, I guess I look like an easy target.). We visited the Cabella’s in Albuquerque. Got to talking to a salesman by the fitting rooms about in store thefts. The homeless just walk in, fill up a cart & walk-out. In the future, I’d likely stay in the Bernalillo area. Drove thru it Wednesday. Newer & more my socioeconomic bias. That is just sad. It's too bad it has come to this. We were thinking about visiting this city but not so sure now. Our experience is totally the opposite. We were just in Santa Fe again this past June. During each of our visits, have never once been approached by any homeless, and always enjoy our time there. One of our favorite destinations. We also stayed at Santa Fe Skies RV park. And we will definitely go back.Re: Needless kaos and carnage on the Beeline highway...We were also on the Beeline that day, and witnessed much of what Desert Captain described. It was a test of your nerves on that road that day, for sure. We were on our way home from a trip to Oklahoma. Although we have homes in both Payson and Mesa, we store the motorhome in Mesa. Considered stopping in Payson, but decided to continue on. At one point the rain was so heavy you could barely see past the hood. Many made the dive to the side of the road to wait for the downpour to pass, as did we. But I was amazed at how many just went flying on by. They just will not slow down, or wait.Re: Lock em up... a long storyWe built our home in Payson in 2006. It is no longer the quiet, sleepy little town folks once imagined it to be. Too much infiltration from the Phoenix/Valley area now. Drugs and theft have been a big problem in Payson for many years, as any member of the PD will tell you.Re: Is a toad necessary with a small motor home?We have managed quite well without a toad. Don't really feel it has limited us that much in most situations. Have rented a car from Enterprise numerous times, if staying in a spot where we want to do some exploring of the area. No problem.Re: Price increase at our KOA Super_Dave wrote: As for how we have come out of this, the long standing guy in the park with the best site has decided to move down the road to a cheaper campground so I asked if I could have that spot. Psychologically, I'm paying more but have the best site in the park versus paying more and getting moved to a worse site than I had. And as an added bonus, some of the drama has decided to leave so hopefully it will be a drama free summer. Good for you Super Dave. Certainly nothing wrong with remaining calm, reasonalble, and finding a solution that benefits both parties.Re: Do you let you kids drive your motorhome BobGed wrote: Before you let anyone drive your coach in other than an emergency situation may sure you check your insurance policy. That was my first thought also.Re: Moving on up... to the mountains!Glad to see you are happily settled in OP. Enjoy!Re: Moving on up... to the mountains! We know it is not a matter of 'if'...but 'when'....it happens in Payson also.
