With AC, microwaves, electronic water heaters plus numerous other electrical appliances we take with us it seems to make More sense to have 50 amp You do realize that so-called "50 amp service" is in fact 100 amps total - right? :W 30 amp service is delivered on one leg - 120 vac x 30 amps = 3600 watts. 50 amp service is delivered on two legs - 120 vac x 50 amps x 2 = 12,000 watts. BIG difference, so why pay for 50 amp service in the construction of your trailer if you have no need to draw anywhere near that amount of power?Re: flojet macerator questions bob213 wrote: Trying to decide how to set up Flojet macerator pump. I need to make an extension cord and it looks like I will need 10 ga wire for a 15 ft. run. Any suggestions on what type of connections to use? I ran 12 gauge zip cord from the battery back to a 7-pin Bargman connector mounted next to the waste gates and wired a matching Bargman to the macerator. Re: inverter to AC outlet!! opnspaces wrote: Probably the first thing you need to figure out is how you would get the wire to the outlets. The inverter should be near the batteries. You could also possibly drop the wire straight down through the floor and back up where you want the outlet. but you still need to protect the wire under the trailer. All of which is illustrated in my own inverter installation detailed 2 posts earlier. ;)Re: inverter to AC outlet!! Powts wrote: So I just purchased a GoPower 700W pure sine wave inverter plus all the install goodies for our TT. Initially I powered our trailer "whole house" by simply turning off the converter and plugging the trailer's main service cable into one of the inverter's 120 vac outlets. I later refined this by installing receptacles dedicated to the inverter output alone - one outside, duplex receptacles on each side of the bed, and another at the galley. I mounted the remote in one of the bedside cabinets so if we lost shore power for some reason I could just turn the inverter on without even getting out of bed and the 4 receptacles would be powered. Why bother disconnecting the converter? :h Since your intention is to power your trailer "whole house" with the inverter just turn off the converter and plug your trailer's 30 amp main service cable (using a dogbone) into the inverter output - done. :B At times when you're not using the inverter just turn the converter back on again. So, what are the Suburbans made of. Metal? Porcelain lined steel tank so Suburban does supply every model sold with an anode rod.Re: Gas grill replacementAny Weber Q grill will work fine off your trailer's low pressure feed provided you remove the grill's regulator. Once removed you'll need a hose with a quick disconnect fitting at one end that will plug into the trailer's low pressure feed and at the other end a threaded fitting that will screw on to the grill in place of the regulator. Many have done this mod and it works just fine. :BRe: Water heater plastic plug salem wrote: Talking among campers this morning one guy said he uses an anode rod in his Atwood tank, "Just to be safe." Waste of time and $$. An Atwood water heater tank is aluminum and acts as it's own anode. Atwood doesn't recommend the use of an anode rod so why would you? :RRe: Yellow window frame on door. Ugly. What to do? ivbinconned wrote: Tape it off and paint it black like the rest of the windows? Other plastic stuff has yellowed too. Like the “marine” speakers.
