We are outdoor people who love to hike (altho walking might be better since hubby has a compression fracture), hoping it will be 100% by then. Love to antique shop--wineries or breweries are wondeful. Just want to generally get away and relax. Appreciate any suggestions.Leaf PeepingPlanning a trip from Minnesota to Bar Harbor, ME and Acadia National Park in early October. Focus of the trip is to see the colors and enjoy the scenery. Wondering about suggestions for routes to avoid most traffic and see the sights. Suggestions of things to see along the way would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.Agawa Canyon TrainWe are planning a short trip from Minnesota to Sault St. Marie, Ontario, CA. ( Had planned to do the whole Lake Superior Circle but that will have to wait for another time). Have reservations at KOA In Sault St. Marie and have reservations for the Agawa Train. Somewhere I read that seats on the left side were better for viewing but I'm not sure I'm remembering that correctly. Anybody have any advice for us and also what to see in Bayfield, WI, Baraga State Park, MI and Sault St. Marie. You have always given us good advice so would like some more.;) ThanksLake Superior Grand Circle TourWe are planning to do the Circle Tour this fall--perhaps mid-Sept. Would appreciate any help regarding campgrounds, things to see etc. We pull a 32 foot 5th wheel but would like hookups including water and electricity. We do have a generator but have found that they are frequently only allowed during certain hours. Would also like opinion of which direction to go (clockwise, or counterclockwise) We will be starting from the Duluth area. Any suggestions would be appreciated. ThanksRe: Lake Superior Grand Circle TourWe were hoping to stay in Provincial Parks as we have heard they are very nice. They won't accept reservations after Sept. 4 even tho they say they are open until late October. Maybe I will give a call tomorrow and see what the discrepancy is. Thanks for your help.Lake Superior Grand Circle TourWe are planning a Lake Superior Circle Tour in late September-early October. I'm really struggling trying to make reservations at some provincial parks. I can only assume that they turn off the electricity on Sept. 4th. We have a generator but really don't care to use it a lot. If we must, do they allow unlimited hours or times. Does anyone know of private campgrounds in Ontario, CA or around the Superior Circle Tour? We would like to travel late Sept.-early October to see some of the colors and avoid the crowds. Travelling in a 32 foot 5th wheel. Thanks for any help you can offer.Lake Superior Grand Circle TourJust beginning to think about planning a circle tour around Lake Superior, Soo St Marie, Apostle Islands etc. Does anyone know about a route, recommended campgrounds, sights to see. We are active 70 yr. olds with a 32 ft. 5th wheel so we would like electricity and water hookups. Sewer or dump sites would be nice. Do have a generator but don't use often. Would like to find central campgrounds where we could spend a few days exploring then move to next camp. What time of year would colors be best etc. Thanks for all your help. You've never steered us wrong in the past.Re: Oregon HolidayHi again for one last time. We are leaving Collier Memorial State Park heading home to Minnesota with a stop at some friends house in Sun Valley, ID. Good Sam mapping puts us on some backroads that we kind of question. They recommend we take #97 no. to Silver Lake Road (gray road on map)then road name changes to Bear Flat Lane (still gray)then on to OR 31, Old Lake Rd, Christmas Valley Hwy, finally reaching US20/US395. Anybody familiar with these roads? We will be towing a 32 ft. fifth wheel. Wondering if there are lots of hairpin turns or if there is a better way to I84 into Boise? Would be interested in hearing any opinions. Thanks again.Re: Oregon HolidayWanted to say a big "Thank You" for all your help. Last place to finalize is Crescent City, CA to explore the Redwood National Park. Seems that the state parks there only allow tent camping or at least camping without any facilities. Can anyone suggest a private campground or one with electrical/water in that area?Re: Oregon HolidayThanks for all your help. Seems we've found some places to stay central and south Oregon but are still struggling with the Columbia River Gorge. Remember, we know nothing about the area and seems places talk about railroads going right through the campground etc. Any suggestions? Sounds like we need to leave earlier than we expected and maybe make a big circle. Once again, thanks a lot for all the suggestions.
