All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsA Map for ResortsI wonder if it would be possible in some future revision to show a map of each state and the location of the resorts. It would save from trying to find some very small town in mapping software only to learn it is no where near where you wanted to go. RVparkreviews.com is an excellent example of this concept.Re: Additional chargesI ran across one GNP park that added $5 per night for Utilities...and then $5 for electricity...and then $5 for amenities. Go figure.Re: front or rear dieselMusicman I have driven both flavors there is a little trade off for you to consider. Noise is the primary concern. In most rear models the bed is over the engine. If you have a driver and are trying to sleep between stops so you can work/play when you arrive you may consider the front motor a benefit. If this is used as the average family taking a trip and ever want to communicate while driving make darn sure you get a rear mounted engine. :) Really it is a big deal driving down the road. I think the may be an advantage or two from having a shorter driveshaft and the associated maintenance, but I could be wrong.Re: How many hours a day do you drive? bobtucker wrote: Sweet spot for our DP is 60-62 mph. For estimating I plan on 300-350 miles per day. six to eight hours driving a day. average for planning is fifty miles traveled per hour. This is what I do as well. In my working days I could stretch to 500miles but it always worked out to an average of 50mph. Over the years I have tried to speed up to near the limits. EACH time I drove 70mph (in good weather) I blew a tire either because of garbage roads( Think I40 tween Little Rock and Memphis) or ambient heat ( Louisville KY after a 8hr run). So I know I need to take it easy, but I am on a kinda hard schedule to get to Yellowstone. Once the cruise control has been repaired it shouldn't be so bad, it's freeway MOST of the way and if I can just get north of Casper in the alloted time I will be fine. DW can drive and is quite good. I am a horrible passenger and will have to lock myself in the back bedroom so I don't get her nervous. I'm such a worry wart because I am a plan for any contingency kind of guy. When it all goes south, I'm ready and not surprised. :)Re: Yellowstone / Grand Teton / Mount Rushmore - Number Of Days?We are planning/have booked a trip to Yellowstone for summer 2015. We have 2 weeks to do the run and 2 of those days will be eaten up by a family visit. From central Indiana we are planning 4 days driving to get to the area. We will only have 3 days in park, fam visit, and then trek home. I'm in a wheelchair so that pretty much deletes hiking limiting me to motorized touring. *sigh* I will get to put my spouse on a horse for a few hours though. I will be able to wheel around the paint pots and whatnot but it looks like the highlight of my trip will be the American Computer & Robotics Museum in Bozeman :) sometimes it pays to be a geek!Re: Columbia, MO to Biloxi, MSI'm with Two Med...Tom Sawyer would be just right for an on the way stop.Re: SCS 2702 Basement Air ThermostatDo you mean one of these?Re: Where do you get service work doneThunder touched on my solution. I have suffered for years with folks not wanting to touch a DP. Find out where your local school buses are serviced and that would be your new chassis/general service center. :) For engine mine goes to Crossroads Cummins or Schide Diesel, for Trans Allison's world headquarters is nearby. Sorry, but CW has screwed up simple stuff way too many times for me to count on it anymore. In 10 yrs I have YET to have CW do a single job without botching it. Yeah, make that profit..there's another sucker born every min.Re: Insurance RecommendationsI fit in with Mr Bear 2. All my other policies are written through State Farm, rental properties, home, auto, liability, etc...For some reason they just don't know anything about RVs, they treat them like big cars. Progressive has been quite fair to us over the last dozen or so years. We had one claim and they handled it well. Two or three road service calls...the subcontractor they use really needs to get it's act together. When we tell you we are in a 36ft DP and specifically tell you it will require medium duty or higher tow service LISTEN to us. Last time they never did send a tow...State Police got us a tow...and the tire guy that showed didn't even have tools. :(Re: Does Blue OX still service tow bars?Thank you very much. My bar has been around a while I am will be more than happy to pay for any needed repairs. :)
