Hengs will stick to the ply also and the bondo will allow you to fill in any gaps between the new ply and the old roof material. You will need to insulate the roof anyway and that double sided reflective coating really helps to keep in the heat in winter, the heat out in summer and the white roof will reflect the sun in summer.Re: 5'ver roof repair.Put down a thin 1/4 in layer of plywood over any soft spots on the roof. Go around the edge of the plywood with bondo all purpose. Paint over the whole roof with 1 Gallon of Heng's Rubber Roof Coating (on Amazon for $55/gal) and use ProTapes Pro Flex Flexible Butyl All Weather Patch and Shield Repair Tape, 50' Length x 2" Width ($22 on Amazon) on all the seams. You will have a waterproof roof. BTW: if you do not mind the tedious process of installing it. Use some DOUBLE Bubble Aluminum Reflective Insulation Roll for insulation instead of the fiberglass that soaks up and holds moisture. You can spend more money but one gallon of Hengs should do your whole roof. The Plywood is just to make the soft spots strong enough to walk on. I did not even bother to remove the old EPDM. The bondo will stick to the EPDM but is rigid and it will not flex, so cover the seams/edges with the tape if you ever want to move the unit. Hairline cracks will appear in the bondo at the seams. Another BTW: If the roof membrane is white on top and bottom it is a TPO membrane not EPDM. EPDM is white on the one side and black on the other. Not all coating material will stick to TPO but Hengs will, which is why I recommend it over the $300 dollar stuff (liquid rubber) that also needs a primer coat before it will stick to TPO.Re: necessities to take for pickupNoise canceling headphones and eye shade for the plane and staying in the dealers lot.Re: Denver-Moab-Mesa Verde-Colorado SpringsMoab will be hottish upper 90's and some 100+ days but 60's at night. Cortez will be cooler, mid 80's to upper 80's, low 90's some days with 50's at night. No to bad really, watch for snow/sleet on the high passes even in July.Re: Rest Stop, east San Francisco Bay areaIF you are using the 80 to go north via Vallejo then you can pull off at the Hilltop Dr exit 198 in Richmond and go over to the Hilltop Mall. There is a Walmart there and a mostly empty parking lot. I would use 680 instead of 880. 880 or 580 ends up putting you into the 580/880/80/Bay bridge perpetual traffic jam.Re: Rest Stop, east San Francisco Bay areaWaterbird Regional Preserve. If you just need a place to park for a few hours, however no dogs allowed. Take I-680 north past Concord and Highway 4. About two miles before the Benicia-Martinez Bridge, take the Marina Vista/Waterfront Road exit. At the end of the off-ramp turn right onto Waterfront Road, drive about 1/4 mile, turn right onto Waterbird Way, and watch for the right turn into the Preserve. There is also the Suisan Bay Overlook at exit 61 on 680 past the bridge.Re: 5er that extends over the cabLooks like you could get a lot of extra bedroom space. Maybe a little hard tuck in sheets though.Re: 5er that extends over the cab campinginthewoods wrote: I believe it's called titanium. Camped by one a few years ago and it was very tall. Made by Glendale I googled it You are right it sure looks like the google images. Thanks, I edited my post. Also apparently Travelaire makes one.5er that extends over the cab Is there some reason I am missing why more 5ers are not made to extend over the cab. Most are high enough and it seems a good spot to extend a bed into like a slide in camper. After some research I found that Titanium and Travelaire make a similar 5er. I am not sure if the image is one of those.Re: CA 395 from I-15 to CA 58Last summer it was a good route. Crowded and some risky passing but the road was good.
