After flooding out my home in Beaumont (Hurricane Harvey), I am going to live in a motorhome for the next two years. The 35SK was not large enough for me to live in long-term. After a few years, I finally have all of the problems sorted out, so watch for it at Motor Home Specialities in Texas. Based on what the trade-in worked out to be, it should be a great buy. There were upgrades to the batteries (4 6-volts), digital thermostats (they work so much better than the stock ones), and a Traveler DirecTv dish installed. My new coach will be delivered in January.Re: Thor Super C (Chateau/Four Winds) improvements and modsUpdate from last year. I had had a problem with the cab over coming loose again. It had been looked at by the factory and in the local repair shop for over six month when it again came loose and was making significant noise and I could not drive in the rain due to the gap between the roof of the pick-up cab and the motorhome cap. After calling the factory, they said that since I had this problem during my warranty, if I would bring it again to the factory, they would fix it. I took it last month and had an additional few items that were a continuing problem: 1. Fuel fill was slow ("fixed" on three previous occasions). 2. Mud flap eaten by the tires (also" fixed" on three previous occasions). 3. ladder broken - new problem. 4. no heat out of the vent in the bathroom (also fixed on one prior occasion). I expected the repairs to take several days, but they were fixed in one day. The man at the shop showed me the repairs and they looked great. The cab over problem did not reappear during the 1200 miles back to Texas, So I hope it is a permanent fix. I was told there was inadequate fixation (screws) in place from the original build and subsequent repairs. I am happy the factory was able to fix the problems. I would have preferred not to have to have had two trips to the factory for some of the repairs. It would be great to live close to the factory for them to take care of all of the repairs instead of trying to depend on dealers that seem much more interested in sales than repairs.Re: Thor Super C (Chateau/Four Winds) improvements and modsFresh water drain is on the passenger's side toward the back of the MH. It is a small valve on the outside sidewall . The hot and cold water low point drains are in the bedroom, under one of the drawers. I can just get my arm in to open and close the valves without removing the drawer.Re: Thor 33sw Water Leak in Storage CompartmentI have had storage compartment leaks that occurred when driving in rain. The compartments are supposed to be sealed, but several of mine were not (35SK).Re: Thor Super C (Chateau/Four Winds) improvements and modsUpdate on the cab over problem. So after calling Thor to discuss my displeasure over having to wait months on the cabover repair, just to have the repair come apart after a few hours of driving, they have requested that I return to the factory service center for repair. The MH is well out of warranty, but the problem has persisted in and after the warranty period. I will attempt to schedule the trip for Spring. For the few hours the repair held, it was so nice! I will try to make a nice trip out of it. While this has been a problem, I am very impressed that Thor is going the extra mile to make certain this problem is fixed. I don't think my dealer is much of a repair center and believe Thor wants it right, even though they could say "sorry, out of warranty."Re: Thor Super C (Chateau/Four Winds) improvements and modsFirst trip after having the cab over fixed (again). It worked for 295 miles. Now back to squeaking again and the caulking has broken. I would appreciate information on a shop in Texas that has successfully had a permanent fix to this problem. ThanksRe: Thor Super C (Chateau/Four Winds) improvements and mods mbacfp30 wrote: Hi dnhill, Hope your rig is doing well. Do you know what they did to fix the Cap? I am getting different opinions on how to fix it? I appreciate the info. Best, They found that the screws that attach the cab to the cap had come loose. Also, there was an inadequate number of screws. I was initially told they would install some metal pieces to reinforce the wood, however that was not done and the shop developed amnesia about the proper fixation method during the several months the motor home was in the shop awaiting repair. Since the repair, all seems fixed. I will admit that I am concerned the repair is temporary. I have a long trip scheduled for July that will be a good test of the repair. Hope yours is an easy fix.Re: Thor Super C (Chateau/Four Winds) improvements and modsAfter two years of ownership, I just found out the black/grey connection swivels. I always wondered why the hole in the compartment didn't line up.Re: Thor Super C (Chateau/Four Winds) improvements and mods RobbieH wrote: The factory repairs are way better than going to a dealership. I am glad to hear your cap issue was resolved because mine has started squeaking really loudly going down the road. I am afraid failure is imminent. Go back and find my repair complaints. 172 days in the shop in the first 11 months. Totally unacceptable. My guess is that you used MHSRV as well. Now that all warranty work has been completed, I hope I will not need to use their shop again.Re: Thor Super C (Chateau/Four Winds) improvements and modsWhen the cap is loose, the caulking will not make a watertight barrier between the cap and cab. When driving in rain, there was a leak into the passenger seat from above. I was told there are screws that came loose and there were not enough screws to begin with. There was another Thor Super C there for the same problem.
