That will help the eventual loss on the resale side and doesn't make it quite as big of a gap. Second, obviously you are looking ahead for a future upgrade or maybe this is just a test of whether you will like camping? I would buy for what your current needs are, because things change. Example: I bought mine with the anticipation of a 4 seat UTV. Well, 7 years later, I've never owned a UTV. Still have quads. If I would have known that 7 years ago, I would have went with a different model. If you know you will be changing "hobbies" soon, then plan accordingly, but if the future is unknown, go with what you want/need now. Finally, I have a Bumper Pull that is 32+ Feet. I bought it site unseen, didn't do my homework. It is a Model FSW2800, so I was thinking 28 ft. Not so! I bought bumper pull, because I wanted the bed open. I regret it everytime we load up. The 5th wheel we previously owned had 3x the storage, where we could keep things loaded. Now, we load/unload chairs, tables, tools, etc... everytime, whereas a 5th wheel, you keep them loaded. Pack you clothes and food and your off. Storage is underrated on an RV! I've had a 5th wheel and MH with basement storage, and miss them both dearly!. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have owned my current trailer for 7 years if it didn't fit our needs. But the 5th wheel is a better option, and if you get one that fits your needs, you won't need the bed of your truck. Sorry for the ramble.Re: That Fuel Station Issue AgainI've had to do the sanding thing as well. The best decision I ever made was to avoid putting Ethenol in the Generator tank. Since I've started to use NON Ethenol fuel, I haven't had the problem with the pump sticking. Sorry, I know that wasn't the answer to your question, but something to consider when you do get it back to operational? Good Luck.Re: Onan wont start hotI had the same problem after installing a new carb on my 5500. My problem ended up being a bad fuel pump. The advice I got was to run the gen until it shuts off, then pull the fuel pump off and see if it is pumping when you try to start it, or even hit the prime button to see if you can hear the pump engage. It's my understanding there is something within the fuel pump that expands when it's hot and it fails to work once, warm. I put a new pump on mine and it's been running great. Very easy install. Good luck.Re: Another No Start OnanJust from personal experience, go on-line to Amazon and buy a new carb. I'm as cheap as the come, infact thought I could use my extended warranty to cover the gen problem, only to be screwed by Camping World, who I'm sure knew that the warranty wouldnt cover it, yet didn't have a problem charging me $175 diagnostic fee! The new carb cost $161. Not only do I have a peace of mind knowing it's new, but also I know how to fix it. It took about 15 min to take off the old and put on the new. I had the same prob with my son's ATV and after pulling the carb apart and getting into every crack with cleaner, I still ended up taking it to a mechanic. Again, I would highly suggest order a new carb and be done with it. I wish I would have started there? Just my 2 cents?Re: Gas Leak in Filler Tube BigDogF250 wrote: I would usually recommend cutting out and replacing the hose but as a patch you can use Rescue Tape. I have a roll in the trailer and one in the tool box. You can buy it online (Amazon Prime) or even from Walmart. It's good with Fuel, Oil, Water and Air at big pressures. It's available in width's up to 2". Thanks, I was hoping there was a "simple" patch system to hold me over for the week!Re: Gas Leak in Filler Tube Turbo Diesel Dude wrote: I'd cut the hole out and splice in some heavy walled PVC and hose clamps. JMHO I like the direction your heading with this. However, when you say heavy wall PVC, my mind goes directly to the black PVC that is used for the black and grey tank discharge? Is this what your referring to? If so, is there a specail glue that is used on the connections, or will regular PVC glue hold up to the fuel? I'm just curious if the fuel will eat away the glue, I know it "welds" the PVC together, but will the gas eat through it? The technical stuff is what I usually over analyze!Gas Leak in Filler TubeI'm once again going to tap into the great minds on this site. Over the weekend I filled the "Toy" tank on my WW. As I was filling the tank, I noticed that there was a leak in the fill neck. Gas was not dripping out, but there was a stead stream. Unfortunately I wasn't in the position to do anything about it at the time, so it just leaked. Yes I feel bad about the impact I had on the environment, but even worse about the $15-20 in gas I just lost. I know I need to replace the fill neck, which looks to be about a 2" rubber tube. Luckily, it looks like the remaining fuel is below the leak level, so no more fuel is leaking. However now I have 2 questions. 1) We leave for a week long trip on Thursday. Is there a type of tape I can wrap the filler neck with to prevent further leaks until I have time to replace the tube? Would regular duct tape work or is there a special tape? 2) When I do replace, the tube goes through the floor of the trailer and then is connected to the tank using a hose clamp, there is about 2 1/2' exposed below the trailer. Rather than remove the entire hose and have to get into the flooring on the trailer, could I cut the tube and splice it below the floor, or am I better off to replace the entire thing, and go up into the trailer floor? Also, the current tube is somewhat rigid, not as plyable as standard rubber tubbing, is there a specialty tubing I need to get? I'm relatively handy when it comes to these things, but I often don't want to pull things apart unless I have to. So if I can just replace the section of hose that has the leak, I think it would be much easier and less intrusive to the trailer, which could cause additional problems? Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas would be greatly appreciated.Re: extended awning rooms - screen pull downs..I think its a very individual situation. For us, my wife is very private and doesn't like it down, however I like the idea of being more open, but since we all know who makes the decision our ramp door remains closed. It also depends on your set up, I've recently seen some of the larger TH where they can extend their ramp as a deck and have a "fence" for lack of better terms around it. These are the TH with the seperate garage, so that would make a big difference for us, where the wife could be inside, and I could have the porch area? I see a ton of people using these set ups, but not so much the "Screen Room".. Again, I think it depends on the type of person you are or more importantly that your significant other is?Re: UtahGlad you had a memorable time on your trip. Having lived in Utah for the past few decades, there is still so much I haven't seen, but you are right, we are spoiled and it would take many trips to see it all.Re: Weekend Warrior Electrical Problem - Need GuidanceOkay, just to put an end to this mess, whoever said I had the polarity wrong and hooked the cables up backwards is a winner! That was the last thing I thought was wrong, you know, black is negative and red is positive, we'll not in this case. I finally figured the black cable was to the generator and had to be positive, so after switching them around, replacing the fuse for the 3rd time on the converter, I'm back in business. Thanks for all the input after reading everything it finally sunk in!
