Oak Creek was the only one with a 2 month availability for our size Fifth Wheel. The only other option was San Diego RV Resort-- since I will be working (and need to get some sleep) I think this will be quieter. Our site will back to green space so, that will at least give us no one behind and a little more room. I will be working Monday thru Friday when we are there but I think this will give us a good home base for our adventures. We leave Wednesday--we are super excited--this is the furthest that we have gone one way so, hopefully we will still be married when we get there--lolSan Diego Area For Two MonthsWe're Headed West For Two Months! Hubby and I are long time recreational campers. We have lived in Northern KY for the past 20 years (14 in South Florida--grew up in MN -- 3 yrs in Houston) My company opened an office in El Cajon last August-- I have been flying out there monthly since August and am needed on a more regular basis so I offered to drive out there with our Fifth Wheel and stay for two months. Our future goal is to spend winters in the RV somewhere warmer when we retire so, this will be a good trial run. Hubby will be working remotely from the RV while I go to the office each day. Looking for suggestions as to where to stay in the El Cajon / San Diego Area. Since I will be going to our office in El Cajon each day, I would like to keep the drive to 30 minutes each way so I have more time in the evenings to explore. I have really enjoyed the are the past 6 months on my monthly trips but have not seen much more than the downtown area (where I usually stay) and my office. We are hoping to take weekend trips while we are there as well. It is the two of us and our Boston Terrier in a 40' Fifth Wheel. Looking for suggestions on where to stay--I would like somewhere nice that has amenities (pool, laundry)as well as at least a small space for dining/lounging outside. I really appreciate any input on possible places to stay as well as opinions on the route out there from Northern KY (10 miles south of Cincinnati, OH I75) Thank You in Advance!Re: RV Park with Storage North FloridaThank You All!! I will check these outRV Park with Storage North FloridaWe are headed to Florida a few times this coming Fall thru Spring and are looking for an RV park that has storage so we can leave our RV there. Heading down the end of October for about 10 days so want to leave the RV down there at that time. We would be back over Thanksgiving, Christmas and a week or so at Spring Break -- maybe one other trip. We would like this park to be in Northern Florida. We did this a couple of years ago in Gulf Shores, AL and it really worked out well for us. That park offered set-up too so we could just come down in our car. This time we won't need that as we plan on traveling around a bit so, will drive down in our truck. We would stay at this park a couple of days the beginning of our trip and again at the end of the trip -- then just leave the camper in their storage. We live in KY so there is no need to have our camper up here in storage in the winter. Hubby and I both work full-time still but are scouting areas for our retirement in a few years. This winter we will be focusing on North Florida and the middle of the State. We lived in Sarasota as well as Tampa/Clearwater for 14 years about 20 years ago and have friends and family all over Florida. Thanks in advance for any recommendations of RV Parks!Re: Gettysburg CampgroundI have seen this twice this summer. Recently at the KOA in Cleveland, TN -- hubby was in the area for a couple of weeks for work -- he brought the camper with him but stayed in a hotel during the week -- that weekend I came to TN Thursday Evening about 6:00 (from KY) to spend the weekend--earlier that day Hubby took the camper to the KOA on his lunch break (around Noon)and asked if he could set-up and leave to come back in a few hours -- they were not busy at all -- no one on the site we were going to. They told him it was $10 for early check in. He just paid it -- set-up and went back to work for a few hours. Also saw this at Jelly Stone CG in Nashville this past May.Re: What Are Your Plans For Christmas & New Years?Christmas Eve with the Kids, then Christmas morning we're headed to Gulf Shores State Park for a week, can not wait.Re: Considering Florida for Christmas .. need your adviseWe live in Northern KY and do this same week each year. We are also a couple in our 50's (well DH is 60)but, we both still work so vacation time is limited. I agree if you have the time you need to get further south if you want a better guarantee of warmth but, for us we have about 7-9 days depending on how the holidays fall and I don't want to spend it all driving. We leave Christmas morning -- traffic is great! We come back New Years day. Will be going to Gulf Shores again, we love anywhere along the panhandle and taking this route we avoid I75 and Jellico (just in case it snows). I just made our reservation at the SP in Gulf Shores last week -- no problem. Many snowbirds wait to go South until after the Holidays. Have a great time!Re: Gulf for ThanksgivingWe'll be back in Gulf Shores for a week at Christmas can not wait! The Tin Top Restaurantin Bon Secour is always on our list for dinner (great early bird prices). They are our favorite. We're not much for the chain restaurants that are so popular in the area. We like Bahama Bobs on the beach for lunch -- great Bushwackers!!
