Trav'ler SWM3 install with Directv^^x2 it probably depends on how it is connected.Re: DirecTV Questiondishpointer.com will tell you the tilt, someone may correct me if i am wrong but you may not need to change the tilt, see if you get a signal or at least a partial signal at the elevation and azimuth the DTV website told youRe: DirecTV Question NekkidFish wrote: tfolks206 wrote: And just to make sure, you have used the correct elevation, azimuth and tilt from directv or dishpointer websites? We were having the same trouble with ours not picking up a bird where we originally mounted it but as a last resort we put it on the ground and used the bubble level in the pipe to make sure it was perfectly vertical. Went back inside reset my receiver and it found satellites almost immediately I think this is our problem. We 100% do not understand what the elevation, azimuth and tilt info is ... or where we put that in. I put in our zip code, thinking that would set us up, but I am obviously wrong. I know I sound totally stoopid, but we don't understand this. :( On the back of the dish it has the elevation degrees and tilt stamped on it. If you have a compass or smartphone, point the dish at that azimuth degree location, then set the elevation to whatever degree it says, that is just a basic setup, it does not guarantee 100% signal, you might have to play around with it a bitRe: DirecTV QuestionAnd just to make sure, you have used the correct elevation, azimuth and tilt from directv or dishpointer websites? The package/setup came with the coax we need for DTV. ok just checking, if you are running a direct cable then yeah sounds like a power problem, i thought you might have been using the factory coax and hooking the dish up to the COAX-IN on the outside, my fault.Re: DirecTV QuestionNekkid it is possible that you have not done the satellite rewire yet if you are trying to use factory coax wire. take a look at this Link and see that you have done that?Re: DirecTV Troubleshey all thanks for all the help, like the previous poster said, we had it mounted to a pole attached to the bumper but apparently it was not straight enough so we never got a signal. We took it down and mounted it to a sheet of plywood (until we come back and can dig a hole and put a pole in with some concrete). Set it to specs dishpointer and direc had told me, guessed at the exact heading, went in and hit reset on the receiver and boom got satellite info almost immediately and checked the signal strength and it was 92%. moral of the story: yes i now realize it has to be dead level to get a signal. and i will need to buy a strength meterRe: DirecTV TroublesNot sure where you read that it was on round 18" but it's set on 17: slimline 3s swm. I will do a little work on it todayRe: DirecTV Troublesgoing to signal strength and then to signal meters, on satellite 101* transponder 1, i should be able to just move it around until i see that it picks up a signal right? i swear i have moved it all different directions and simply cannot get any signal. I cant even seem to find the spot where i got 57 and 58 before. Oh and Bill we do not have the PI 29 ours is PI 21 does that make a difference? It should look like this link to picture
