Although I'm comfortable with my combination, I would not what to push it up to 15,000lbs (+ cargo, + TV load) as I think that would be taxing the limits beyond what I would be comfortable with. (especially in an mountain terrain)Re: New to thisOP (new to RV) is asking for suggestion on how to short term full time in a 27 year old (i.e. 1994) used trailer that he has already purchased. He is in Gold River, British Columbia, Canada. Recent weather forecast indicates night time lows -11C (10F). My suggestion is get a motel room for Feb/March. If you want to maximize your RV experience (not to mention your impress your partner) keep your learning curve for warmer weather, hopefully RV dealers/parts dept. will be more accessible to help you with any repair needs. Trust me your girlfriend will appreciate it.Re: Problem with outside taps in my Cougar 5thCombination of BarryG20 and Bama 2 should do the trick, consider Silicone Spray vs. WD40 although both work. We walk the trailer through a little silicon/WD40 preventive maintenance exercise a couple of times a year. Locks, exterior connections, spray rubber seals with RV treatment etc. Rather lube vs. replace. GPGRe: NEVER TO OLD TO LEARN (new tricks)Thank you to all.. BurbMan, when you say "relieve the pressure on the check valve" are you referring to the Hot Water Tank check valve?NEVER TO OLD TO LEARN (new tricks)I have a couple of RV winterizing questions: QUESTIONS: .. - What is the optimum PSI used when blowing out your RV water lines? (Newer trailers using PEX piping) ..- Do you disconnect your LP gas tanks before winter storage? After you securely close your LP tank valves, do you disconnect the tanks to relieve pressure in your RV's gas lines. CURIOUSITY: ..- More of a preference on my part... Do you remove your spare tire cover and store it indoors vs. leaving it out to the elements for the winter months...con's leaves the spare tire open to elements and possible premature weather damage.Re: KEYSTONE, Cougar front LED decor lightsThank you for your feedback. I assume the only access is through the docking light in the center of the cap. Are these quick connect electrical or the old style twist and electrical tape. FUNNY no one has ever made a YouTube video showing the process. regards... GPGRe: Whats Your Real Weights? Truck and Trailer. The Real DealWe are fortunate enough to have two 5th wheel trailers 2014 Keystone Cougar 327 RES which we have now parked and use as a summer cottage and 2005 Keystone Cougar 285 EFS which is easier to tow and park. 2014 Ford F250 Super Duty Weight at an MTO commercial scale (Ministry of Transportation Ontario) Truck steering axle (front) 4,431 lbs Truck rear axle trailer attached 9,480 lbs Truck and trailer combo 16,799 lbs Trailer only while attached to truck 7,474 lbs. Both units were loaded from a return camping trip, two 30lbs propane tanks full, 2/3 potable water in holding tank. Grey and Black tanks empty which is our typical travel configurationKEYSTONE, Cougar front LED decor lightsWe have a 2014 Keystone, Cougar 327RES with two decorative LED strip lights at the bottom of the front cap. (some call them eyebrow lights) Ours are weathered and no longer functional. Looking for some insight on how to remove and reinstall a new set of LED lights. We have not been successful in finding any info on line or on YouTube. GPGRe: Looking at 2013 Cougar 28sgs 5th wheelHi Duke-44, We have had good luck with the Cougar line (we have two). A few common complaints which I addressed with the dealer before delivery and had no problem once I brought it back for warranty. But again we have a great dealer. i)front cap fading (repaired 100% warranty) ii) on board electronic panel (100% warranty) Where I would be cautious is the lite vs. standard model, to get to the lite (1500 series units) you need to be prepared to sacrifice something. Check the wall thickness, lite tend to be thinner = less insulation hotter in the summer, colder in the fall. Some have complained that the front cap bed models get very hot for sleeping at night. Check for framing (this is difficult, look at the specs) but lite models tend to have less framing, we had an awning tear out because it was bolted only in the wall skin, not anchored in a stud. Often framing is around windows, door and spread far apart along the length of the box. Check interior cupboards, lite models tend to have shallow cupboards sometimes less are installed again because of the structural design. Check the size of your basement and access to it. Although most are still pass-through, many are restricted in height. Good news/Bad news lite models often are lower profile to the ground (smaller tire size etc.) however this sometimes is an issue when trying to combine with a late model truck which tends to be higher profile. So bottom line is "it depends" on what you want to do. Weekend vs. long distance traveling; cost/benefit; tow vehicle; long term plans etc. Good luck, whatever you purchase it will likely be your pride and joy. GPG from Canada EH!Re: Raising my 5th wheelIf you are looking for a few inches only, you may want to consider LIPPERT Correct Trackā¢ Suspension Alignment Kit; SKU: CORRECT-TRACK , Starting At $260.95 it is a shackle kit originally designed to help align axles, but does give you 2" lift by default.
