I saw some instructions somewhere before but cant find the linkRe: Do battery isolators damage your deep cycle coach batterys?http://caravanchronicles.com/guides/how-to-connect-two-batteries-in-parallel/ I just found this article. What an eye opener. If you have 2 parallel house batteries, simply tapping the positive and negative terminals on the correct battery will make a big difference on lifespan. update: ****, this site is a GREAT source.Re: solar panel on a conversion vanIf you are wiring them in series, you may want to consider an MPPT controller to gain and extra 10-20% efficiency. If you are going parallel, PWM even a Ebay cheapy will do the job.Re: Xplorer water heater to engine hoses. This hose has heated engine water and probably antifreeze in it. I think it will have to meet a temperature / pressure specXplorer water heater to engine hoses.Does anyone with a Dodge Xplorer that has the heat exchanger tank that heats the water when you drive, know where to get the black hoses that go from the tank all the way to the engine?Re: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?I cursed the lords name in vain several times after learning my previous owner decided to seal my Xplorers rain gutter trims. Then I installed new weather stripping and screen on my exterior panels.Do battery isolators damage your deep cycle coach batterys?Ok, so I know the old style diode isolators have been around for ever and are still in use today. Since they are diode based a .3-.6 volt loss is created and your batteries never get fully charged. Even a small voltage drop is significant because you shouldn't be discharging your battery below 60%-70%, and a battery at 10.5 is basically dead. So really your power range exist between 12-13V. Another concern is that the new solid state isolators relay/solenoid isolators put in parallel your starter and aux bank when charging. If your deep cycle house battery is at 60%, and it gets bridged to your starter battery, you can get some serious current draw. over 100 amps. I don't know but I seriously doubt a deep cycle battery is meant to be dumped with 100+ amps, and not charged with a 3 stage profile. In fact, I do not think an isolator exists that uses a 3 stage charge. Thoughts?Re: Towing w/a '88 dodge xplorer 230 xlI was reading up on my 89 last night and it looks like these are not capable of towing very much at all. I am sure the 88 is the same. GVWR is 7500#. I am pretty sure these vans weigh around 5500 loaded up which doesnt leave much room for towing. Mine has a class 2 hitch on it with a maximun tongue weight of 350 pounds and max towing capacity of 3500#. I was hoping this can would at least be capable of pulling a 5-6k TT, but apparently it is for light weight towing only like small boats/jet skis I guess.Re: 1989 Dodge Xplorer chainegang wrote: Replacement fridge for your unit should be this item. I have the same year make and model owned since new and eventually had to replace the 3 way fridge. Three way means having propane 12volt and 120 volt options. The original unit installed by Xplorer was RM 2333 now it is with upgrages Dometic RV Replacement unit RM2354 ..3-way pwr manual controls..same as our RM2333 for dimensions. Only difference is the controls are on top rather then the bottom and are electronic. Otherwise it is a drop in fit. It can be ordered via any RV dealer or repair service that has an account with Dometic. I put mine in myself. Had to take out the passenger seat to allow removal from within the RV interior. Time consuming but very do-able all alone along with copious amount of cuss words. Write if you want more info. I may just chop it in half with a saws-all. =) I am getting the truck fridge model. Will be installing 200W of flexible panels on the dome and run the line where the roof AC cabling enters the coach. My fridge has a bead of silicon in the front? What other physical attachments are there that hold it in place?
