how much difference, 250 x 350?
we have not yet deciced on a trailer length, but it def will be a fifth wheel. my be, knowing dh, tow vehicle will be a diesel ford super duty, but both of us are kind of uncertain if we really will need a 350? allowing for empty vs stuffed full trailer weight, how would one really know what you are pulling without packing it up and weighing? ..........and there is the problem..... is the 350 really that much different in capacity?? would a 250 be adequate? we(he) are about to retire in 1 1/2yrs. we are pretty sure we are going to travel at least 6/8 mo. out of 12. we plan on doing a lot of mission work along with our travels. we have decided on a 350 series truck pulling a fifthwheel. why? 350 for the beefiness in the mountains, and a 5`er for the space in storage and we can unhook and drive around. too much sway in a tt, too poor for a mh w/tow !209Views0likes0Commentshow to get info if you are dumb?
well, we have narrowed it down to a fver at least! seriously, we have no idea what manufacturer is the best, or worst. is there somewhere we can find out? yes, we know what options we do, and don't want. but aside from personal exp. which we have none, how does one find a rating of good and bad? this was the long time owner, not just a salesman. he had an actual cross section cutout of a display showing this new not just PRODUCT, but rather INTEGRETY of construction. said he was totally disgusted w/ new cheaper models.............and yes it was instead of a metal frame. this product is used as the basis of the frame itself, everything is just glued to it. this guy has been in this business, in same town for like ever, and I would def trust he knows what he is talking about64Views0likes0Commentsalum frame vs. styrofoam?
after talking with a dealer we have learned most new manufacturers are switching to a cheaper much less durable construction, not a metal frame but rather a Styrofoam like product, in walls floor AND ROOF! how, and where, can we go to find out what manufacturers are still designing with a metal box frame? we are thinking of traveling extensively for a year, and were told with the new design, there wouldn't be much left to pull home! he did have a 2000 carri-lite with a metal frame, are there others??4.3KViews0likes18Comments
