Recommendations?Salt Lake City to Fort Bridger, WyomingBest route from South Salt Lake City Utah (Midvale, UT) to Fort Bridger Wyoming? We're on the road and traveling this Thurs., 4/22 to Fort Bridger. 32' Class C (no tow) and trying to limit steep incline passes. So which would be better route (I-84 (north route) or I-80 (south route)) to get to where they connect at I-80? Thanks in advance!Re: South Lake MichiganThanks Ken56 and Tammy and Mike! Sounds like Michigan will be like the first time we visited Zion NP...a first visit was enough to spark interest to go back. Add it to the list!Re: South Lake MichiganThanks all. Would love to spend more time and visit Northern Michigan, but that will have to be another trip. The goal is to pick up DD from college in Nashville and "squeeze" in a family road trip. TBH we contemplated having her take college finals on the road so we could have more time in Michigan, but decided she'd be more successful if she stayed on campus, finished finals and THEN packed out. It's complicated with other factors, so I tried to keep initial post simple. Any thoughts on overnighting at Warren Dunes vs Indiana Dunes?Re: South Lake MichiganDon't mind staying in Michigan overnight, just wasn't sure where - have you stayed at Warren Dunes SP? Would love to try and get a short hike and/or spend time along Lake Michigan, but it will likely be the following morning. Also, want to stop at Indiana Dunes since it's a National Park ;) before continuing West. Trying to make it to the Badlands for DD's 18th birthday, otherwise we'd stay in the area longer.South Lake MichiganDriving up from Nashville to South Michigan to check off the last state in the Union to visit. Heading west afterwards back to the Pacific Northwest. 1) best place on Lake Michigan (Michigan side, preferably close to Indiana/Michigan border) for a brief visit and photo op (teens request) 2) ideas for overnight? 32' Class C motorhome in early May, so probably need electric hook-ups? Was thinking Indiana Dunes State Park after we stop in Michigan Planning for a long drive from Nashville, so will leave early.Re: Indian Tribal road closure of federal highways ???? dieseltruckdriver wrote: SD511.org for South Dakota. They are listed as a "Civil Emergency" and don't actually show the road closed, but yes, the roads are blocked as of now. Thank you for the reference! Need this when we trek through the Badlands. Do you think we'll have any issues drycamping in Badlands in May?Re: Zion to Monument Vally to Albuquerque to Kansas to NashvilleThanks dedmiston. How do I know which highways are tribal? TBH, I need access to an airport after visiting Monument Valley and ABQ seemed most convenient to fly out of. 2 day work trip is what's causing the complications in travel-planning, so I have to leave family and RV behind. Thankfully DH can drive the RV to convenient airport to pick me up. I'd rather go to Denver airport, but traveling East on 70 (from Monument Valley) still seems sketchy weather-wise around Apr. 21. Thus, thought of flying from ABQ to Seattle. Option 1: fly out of ABQ, fly back to ABQ (sounds like I should avoid this) Option 2: fly out of ABQ, fly back to Denver (ABQ north on 25 to Denver...any steep inclines?) Option 3: fly out of Denver, fly back to Denver (what route to take if we're coming from Monument Valley?) Option 4a: scratch Monument Valley, so from St. George, Utah fly out of and back into Salt Lake City, then head East on 80 to Kansas Option 4b: scratch Monument Valley, so from St. George, Utah fly out of Salt Lake City and fly back to Denver (DH drives 80 East to 25 South - any steep inclines?) and then take 70 East to Kansas. We have family in Denver that they could stay with while waiting for my return. I think we're leaning towards Option 4a or 4b. We've visited Colorado plateau in years past and the teens are flexible....they just want to get on the road ;) After that, we're hoping to get to Northeastern Kansas for a college visit before continuing onto Branson Missouri.Re: Western Washington to NashvilleThanks Ken56! Definitely planning on a renting a car and might look into Dollywood. Traveling with older teens who are excited to do some hiking, but grandparents will also be with us...any hikes you recommend that wouldn't be too strenuous for the 70 year olds (who can walk leisurely) but have great views? Will look into Dollywood as an alternative for theme parks - do you think a day is enough time to visit?Re: Zion to Monument Vally to Albuquerque to Kansas to Nashvillendrorder - thanks for the suggestions - definitely hoping things open up a bit more by April. If not, figured there were some hikes we could do. We enjoyed Mesa Verde NP a few years back, so we're skipping that this time around. And the teens did not want to spoil their fond memories of White Sands NP, so we're not going there either..DH and I are a little disappointed, because we think it would still be fun - but I guess it is a lot more fun when you're young and can trek up the hill to sled down it - LOL.
