If you convert the trailer to electric over hydraulic it will work. Some added expense but totally worth it.Re: Torklift Boot BrushI bought one of these for my bottom step: http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/clean-machine-step-mat-13-x-18-taupe/29078 I've been using it for 5 years, and still in good shape. Just fold up stairs and it's always there.Re: Reality Check - Camper WeightI have a Bigfoot 10'6 A/c, 2 batts, and Onan genny. I have mine on a gas gmc HD. Mine weighs 10600 loaded full of food, beer, etc. 1/3 water and nothing in waste tanks. My rear axle weight was 6400lbs. I've weighed my rig multiple times and have come up with these numbers, give or take a bit. You might want to recheck your weights. 8400lbs seems too high. If you have a diesel generally your front axle weight is higher, but rear shouldn't be that much higher. My camper weighs 3800-4000 wet. You seem to be off by 2000lbs on your GVW and RAW. Maybe the scale is wrong?Re: Onan 2500 generator won't startTry using engine starting fluid. My generator regulator/priming solenoid is bad, so it is hard to start, but runs once it is started. I use engine starting fluid to get it going quite often. I took it to Onan and this was the diagnosis. To take it out and fix it is a P.I.T.A. and expensive. I just take the air filter cover off and spray the air filter, closer to the carb. Starts every time. I would try everything Kheller says. This was all good advise. I did all this and still had problems, so I took it to the dealer. I promised myself that if I ever took this genny out, a Honda was going in it's place.Re: Happijac Motor CoverThere was a thread a little while back about this..... I think the person used compressed air and shot the air through the drain hole at the bottom of the motor. I think this did it for him. I sent 2 of my motors, last December, to Happijac for a rebuild. I think they charged $79 for each motor. They are 1/3 as loud/rough as my other 2. Maybe they use different motors now? But, worth the money IMO. They gave me 2 new motors and replaced the case on 1, it was cracked. They also adjusted the clutches.Re: I want to secure my TC while it is off the truckHere's what I do: X BracesRe: Plywood X supportHere ya go: clicky I made some a couple years ago. I think they work great. You can add blocking to level. I also use 2 -2x6 across the top of the X's. I store these against the forward bulk-head. One thing I would do different, is to, make the slot slightly larger than 3/4". When the wood gets wet and swells, it makes them harder to separate.Re: Camper Jack Backing Plates for BigfootI would also use some Sikaflex or 3M 4200 adhesive to help bond the brackets to the fiberglass.Re: Battery relocation project - BF10.4HMS Beagle, thanks for all the detailed info and help, with my battery move/upgrade. I really appreciate it. When I get it done, I'll try to get some pics up. I'm going to get the batteries any day now, then I can gather the supplies to do the install. I was thinking of buying some stuff from here: https://www.vtewarehouse.com/index.php Do you know of any other online retailer for battery install supplies?Re: Battery relocation project - BF10.4No, i'm not running two battery banks. I'm thinking of doing as you have done, and relocating 2 batteries to the inside front of the camper. I thought that maybe, by adding an isolator, it would protect each battery from cross discharging. This would be in the case of one battery goes bad. I'm still learning when it comes to understanding how the RV 12v system works. So, running them in parallel, so as to limit the discharge level makes sense too. With just one battery bank and no inverter in the system. I guess I have 60 amps going to the battery bank. What would be the largest draw be? Just trying to figure out the wire size needed. I know the wire size is based on amp draw and the length of run. Once the wire size is determined then you can pick a fuse size?
