I had a water leak develop under the shower, but thanks to the aluminum framed floor the only damage was an upset wife with wet socks. It wound up being the caulk joint where the shower pan and shower wall meet. The CampLites are hard to find in good shape. Congrats on getting one.Re: Full hook up?My drain location is on the back, under the entry door. I only hook up the slinky and pull the drain valve when the tank is close to full capacity.Re: Are you towing with a flatbed? Would I be correct in assuming your question is directed toward a flatbed body that doesn't have a rear drop down area below the axles?Re: Reico-Titan electric jack dust boots This is not the specific brand but you can see the hole in the center of the foot plate. That's the one we are talking about. The bolt comes in from the bottom. You can't see it unless the jack is raised off the ground. If there is no bolt head showing, then it's probably only being held on by corrosion.Re: Recommendations for a noob...I also hauled my first TC home on a flatbed. The items that would have been most helpful to have was short lengths of chain (2'-3') and shackles that fit the turnbuckles you have. I measured prior to mounting and thought my turnbuckles would reach but I was short on the two rear tie down points. I rigged it with ratchet straps until I could reach a store and buy some chain and shackles. Otherwise no problems for the 200 mile ride home. Good luck.Re: Reico-Titan electric jack dust bootsChanged mine last year. The bolt is on the bottom of the base plate. The part that would touch the dirt when lowered.Re: Cab over Camper shell?I got a quote from this company about an all aluminum shell with a cabover area couple of months ago. They will do custom jobs to suite ones needs. https://www.alumitechproducts.com/Re: towing w/ camper few ?s1. Realtor 2. 3/4 ton to 1 ton depending on camper weight 3. see #2 I have a 2016 F-250 4x4 with the gasoline 6.2L v8 with a 6 speed auto. The engine power is fine for pulling a loaded trailer while in camper mode. Just expect to slow down a bit on steep grades. The squat is where I have to be concerned. My camper is about 2000lbs wet. The truck bed drops about 5 inches when I put the camper on the bed. Biggest thing I have hauled was a 6x12 wood deck single axle utility trailer with a 1300lb. side-x-side and it sags another couple inches. The bump stops for my suspension were about 3 inches from touching the leaf springs. Not sure of the trailer tongue weight with that setup, but that was the max of my comfort level. I have a LivinLite CampLite 6.8 model. Has a shower, toilet, stove, microwave, fridge, gas heater, & rooftop AC. The freshwater tank is only 13 gallons but I manage. And when it's installed on the truck bed, it leaves the receiver hitch unobstructed.Re: Tie downsHere's a video on YouTube where a guy made some inexpensive spring loaded tie downs with chain, springs, and U bolts. If the link below doesn't work his channel is called Northern Explorer Overland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhkU3IPcIz0 I hauled mine home with a chain and binder and ratchet strap combo. I scariest thing I've heard of is if the camper tries to hop/rise up off the truck bed when you go over a bump in the road or when your truck bed flexes you could damage your anchor points on the camper. The screws or bolts could rip out of the wood frame. That being said, I suppose it's possible to over-tighten the turnbuckle style tie downs and have this happen also. Nothing wrong with being creative, but be cautious as well. Here's what I came up with for my flatbed setup. Way cheaper than the frame mounted setup, but I did purchase the spring loaded turnbuckles. Re: Which is taller? As mentioned below, flat bed is going to be taller than pickup box. Notice the air gap between the cab of my truck and the bottom of the camper. Clearance issues and side to side sway are the drawbacks I have experienced. It has it's pros and cons like anything else, but overall I don't regret it for my intended use.
