Did they change to a better slide at any time ? If so when? ThanksRe: Look what followed me homeI have the same truck only a 2016. Just completed a 2500 mile trip up through Washington and down the Oregon coast. My camper weighs upwards of 4500 lbs. The truck is a beast. More than enough power. Never wished for more power. Exhaust brake works incredibly well. Coming down from Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park hardly needed the brakes. I keep my tire pressure at 80 psi in rears and 75 psi in front when camper is loaded. HOEVER check the side wall rating of the tires. I have air bags installed because my camper is heavier on one side and the air bags keep it level side to side. Congrats you will love that beast!Re: The weekend in the TC competing at Dressage Buzzcut1 wrote: JimPH wrote: I am looking at buying a Reece 46.5 hitch extension. I have the same camper as you and a 2016 Dodge 3500 DRW. Will this extension work and is there anything else I will need to make it work. I dont tow now, just want the ability to be able to tow. with that long a reach I would only tow something really light with a single bar extension. I trust the Superhitch/supertruss set up to safely tow my horse trailer. there are one or two folks here that will say go ahead with a single tube or boast how they made their own but I think you will find the vast majority of those that tow anything heavy on this forum use the Torklift system Thanks BuzzcutRe: The weekend in the TC competing at DressageI am looking at buying a Reece 46.5 hitch extension. It has a GVWR of 14000 lbs.Re: bed of truckI had a 2012 3500 SRW the rear of the bed tappered and curved at the bottom by the rear tailgate. If that is what yours does all I did was get two rubber bed mats. I put one mat on the botom then a 3/4 plywood or OSB sheet then the other rubber mat on top. It raised the camper above the curved part and gave the bottom of the camper full bearing support. I have an 11 ft Lance camper. Worked well for the 4 yrs we had the truck. Camper never slid around.Re: 2006 Lance 951 On 2011 GMC 3500 DRW Will It Fit?I had a 2012 GMC SRW 3500 that I carried a 2007 Lance 1055 11 ft camper. Just put a 3/4 sheet OSB and two rubber mats. Cleared the back of the bed where it curves at the bottom with no problem while giving total support to the bottom of the camper. Did this for four yrs until I purchased a new truckRe: Anyone regret downsizing to a camper? dakonthemountain wrote: JimPH wrote: We downsized from a 25 ft travel trailer to a 2007 11 ft Lance 1055 Truck camper with a large dry bath. We would never go back to travel trailer. We love the ease of getting around and boondock quite a bit. We fit in just about any campsite. Truck camper works great for us Don't you just love your 1055? The dry bath is so comfortable and the added counter space is SO handy! Love my 1055! Yes I love our Lance 1055. Dry bath is huge with lots of storage and counter space. You can actually take a comfortable shower. I love the extra counter top in kitchen across from galley and all the storage cabinets. The cabover area with the high head clearance makes a great place to lounge. All in a non slide camper. However it is a heavy camperRe: Anyone regret downsizing to a camper? We downsized from a 25 ft travel trailer to a 2007 11 ft Lance 1055 Truck camper with a large dry bath. It has a generator, two awnings, Solar panel, AC, etc. Full water, full propane, two batteries, ready for camping, with me and the wife we are just over 4600 lbs. Weighed at cat scale. Carried it on a SRW GMC 3500 for two years. Got 4080 lb rated tires but was still over the GVWR of the truck. Recently purchased a 2016 Dodge Ram DRW 3500. Carries the camper effertlessly. We really love the camper. Tons of interior storage, huge dry bath, good size holding tanks. The overhead cab area is great for lounging we can easily sit upright in the high head cabover area. Very solid camper. Excellent floor plan for a non slide camper. If you purchase it you will love it, just make sure you have enough truck for it.
