Sounds like yours is the standard version which is a 1500 series or half ton. I pull now with an F 250 with the 6.2l and a 6 speed. The Burb had a 3 speed, the six speed makes a great difference, so the eight speed, I imagine would also be nice. Gearing makes a big difference. Unfortunately there is not a 2500 version of the new gm suv. The only available powertrains are the 5.3 in the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon and the 6.2 available in the Yukon Denali and Escalade. If 2500 was an option i would have got it. I will try to add a link to the video. Escalade towing test Your link doesn't work. It means each tire is rated to support 2337lbs.Re: new Escalade as TVthank you for all your comments. Again I'm not asking how much I can tow. I have already found that information online. Its not my first camper I have been camping for a few years. Before I bought my current 5th wheel (that I tow with a 2500hd dmax) I had a bumper pull camper that was a 2006 jayco tt that weighed almost 10,000lbs and was very hard on me as the driver. I do not plan to overload the escalade. I am OK using it to pull my golf cart and mx bikes around while I use the dmax as my TV for the camper(I currently double tow my golf cart behind my 5er) I was only asking if anyone here has real world experience towing with the escalade,or Yukon Denali with the new 8 speed and 6.2 L86. I actually found a few videos of the escalade pulling a 7000lb horse trailer (TFL truck) up the ike gauntlet at elevation and they had nothing bad to say at all. In fact the with comments like "we need a bigger trailer" and I keeping exceeding the speed limit so I have to let off". Anyway I think this truck has some real potential and if anyone has any real world experience that would be great! I travel with my wife and dogs. we live and travel the south east so no long grades, and we don't do very long trips at this point in time so we don't need a lot of gear. we havent done any dry camping so we never fill our fresh water tank. Thanks again for your help.Re: new Escalade as TV RinconVTR wrote: If you will be towing anywhere near max and have P275/55R-20 tires swap them out for LT265/60R-20. Never mind the "hot rod" motor comment. The 6.2L is a BEAST for towing. It simply isn't meant to be an HD "work truck" engine. That's all. the tires are 285/45/22s ,load rating is 110Re: Real world toy hauler weights lincster wrote: You are asking good questions, but making mistakes. Asking real world weights is good. Going to manufactures weights is bad. Real life example and weights. My 2004 Weekend Warrior FS3000 had a tongue weight listed from Warrior of 950lbs. I bought a tongue weight scale and measured at the ball. No water, no toys etc. Actual tongue weight scale was 1400lbs. Full water, no toys. Actual tongue weight scale went to 1700lbs. 4 full size quads. full water, Actual tongue weight went back to 1400lbs. I bought a WD system capable of 1500lbs and bought a new receiver for my truck to match the weights. My trailer had 3 axles. My buddy has a FS2600 by Warrior, 2 axles. Same scenarios tested as above. 1700lbs 2100lbs 1700lbs So, as you can see, real world tongue weight is much different than a brochure. IMO, any full size toyhauler is too much for an 1/2 ton chassis vehicle. I see. The toy hauler is a winnebago spyder 24fq. Could i have the trailer weighed at the dealership? I know it will be empty but it could give me a starting point i guess? Thanks again for your help.Re: new Escalade as TV mbopp wrote: How many people are you hauling, how much gear are you carrying, and what size trailer are you looking to tow? I'll treat this as a loaded 1/2-ton crew cab - you'll probably run out of payload after it's all said and done. I am not asking if the truck will tow a certian trailer. i will be under all capacities, i was only asking if anyone has any experence towing at the rated capacity and how the truck feels.Re: Real world toy hauler weights jklennon wrote: Wild Card wrote: Tongue weight on a bumper pull is a problem. Most are going to be in the 1500# range empty then they get a tad lighter when loaded. Interesting, I didnt think about that but i get it. The escalade has auto load leveling rear suspension with magnetic ride control but i havent used it on anything to know how well it works...thank you for your input ill have to search out the capacity. so the max tongue weight with distribution is 1250lbs, the dry tongue weight of the trailer is 760lbs according to manufacturers so i should be okay on that number!Re: Real world toy hauler weights Wild Card wrote: Tongue weight on a bumper pull is a problem.
