That's why we can't go again as we are right at 60' with our toad. Years ago we did the whole parkway in a 29' Class C pulling a car and were fine, but not now. Would love to do it again but not taking the chance on getting busted for over length. "Recreational vehicles are a popular way to see the parkway. The length restriction for RVs is 55 feet, including a tow vehicle, and the height restriction is 14 feet."Re: Typical problem we all see in RV parks.I can't explain the pickup trucks other than maybe trying to warm up the inside first. Those complaining about diesel motorhomes idling before leaving obviously don't have one. Mine has an airbag dump valve that lowers the coach about 6 inches when parked which makes it more stable but also drains most of the air from the tanks. In order to move the vehicle you must build up the air again because the brakes won't release until the air gets to about 70#s therefore you need to let it run to build up the air. I try not to leave too early so as not to upset my neighbors but idling to build air is a must or it won't move. I also can't move my slides while the engine is running so we raise the jacks, build the air so the brakes will release, shutoff the engine, unhook hoses and cords, bring in the slides, then start the engine and move off the spot and away from others to hookup the car.Re: RV Parks near Crater Lake National ParkWe stayed at Joseph Stewart State Recreation Area which is about 35 miles SW of Crater Lake. It was a beautiful campground and a nice easy drive over to Crater Lake. There is also a little cafe along the way in Union Creek named Beckie's that makes fantastic homemade pies. We stopped on the way to Crater for breakfast and on the way back for the pie!Re: Wild Frontier Campground in Ocala Florida jjcook wrote: Hi has anyone stayed the winter months at this campground and if so please write us and tell us about the place. Is it quiet or is there road traffic noise at night? Beware of this place. I had 2 weeks booked for last winter and had to cancel due to health issues. I gave them over 2 months advance notice following their guidelines and they refused to give me my money back, only offering a credit for a future stay which I would probably never be able to use. The office people were very rude and hung up on me twice. I finally filed a claim with the better business bureau and the department within the Florida government that regulates this type of operation (can't remember name right now) to try to get my money back. Also filed a claim with the booking site they use to make reservations. Nowhere on the campground site does it state they won't refund. The booking site explains how to get a refund and I followed that process, but the campground had to approve. I was told by the office folks at the campground that the park had recently been sold and had new owners and they would not refund money. Bottom line, I finally got an email from the booking site that they would refund my money and a few days later the refund appeared on my credit card statement. All this took over 2 months and I got back most of my money except booking fees and taxes. Don't care so much about the booking fees as I can understand that but the taxes was kind of odd. Anyway BUYER BEWARE!! I'll never go there or recommend them.Re: Michigan Hwy. 31Last week route 31 was closed north of Alanson and detoured over to I75 at Indian River. Same thing coming back south, there were signs up around Mackinaw City detouring route 31 back down I75 to Indian River and then over to Alanson.
