Perhaps not too smart but I am pressed for time as we leave for a long trip at the end of Aug. These new jacks claim to be easier and fully remote control. I am sure it take some rewiring but hope not too much as I am not up for such a big challenge. Repacement of Atwood jacks Hello, I have a 1999 Elkhorn 11xx truck camper. One of the Atwood jacks just died when the motor hit resistance it die and stop lifting. I tried to find a new jack but found out they were obsolete. As my wife loves the camper we decided to buy the Riecon jacks. The salesman stated great choice as they now have remote control. I am concerned as I think I am somewhat a handy man but I am not sure. Does anyone have any experience installing a new set of jacks? Re: Truck Camper A/C instalation AnEv942 thanks for your help. As you also have an Elkhorn my next question pertains to the atwood jacks. The previous owner had the jacks wired directly to battery along with inline fuses. I was able to raise and lower the camper only once before the jacks started to slow down and stop. I felt it was too much of a drain on the battery and thought perhaps if I wired them through the converter and plugged the camper into shore power it would continue to work. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Re: Truck Camper A/C instalation AnEv942, thank you so much for this detail. I think I just lack hands on application. As soon as it warms up a bit up here in Canada I will endeavor to add an air conditioner to my TC. Elkhorn model is the 11x but unlike your model mine was a wood frame which I think would have been slightly heavier. Once I start the work I will relay my progress. Truck Camper A/C instalation I have a 1999 fleetwood elkhorn truck camper which does not have A/C installed. There is an outlet plug for an A/C unit and I need to know if anyone else installed A/C in their truck camper and how they did the work SolvedRe: Air Bags Necessary?I have question on whether I should get the auto leveling type air bags with onboard compressor or just the normal air bags but have two values so I can adjust the pressure on each side. My only concern is when driving the weight of the camper may shift and the auto leveling system could compensate. The plain air bags which I set the pressure are considerably cheaper...Re: Aluminum vs Steel flatbedGrit Dog the plywood is an excellent suggestion. My TC weighs about 3500 lbs and I really want my truck to look newer...Re: Aluminum vs Steel flatbedThis question/concern may not be related but I have recently changed my F250(steel body) for a F350(aluminum body). I have heard that the tailgate of the F350 aluminum body is an integral part for strength and removing it may compromise the strength of the box. Has anyone heard a similar story and is it true.Re: Dometic RM3663 FridgeThanks Old-Biscuit, I disconnect the wires for J2 and the fridge works, however, the 20A fuse on the DC circuit board still lights up. Both the AC power is good at J5 and J6 are good and the proper DC voltage 13V is at J4. I did notice that the previous owner removed the DC heater element as there is nothing connected to J1. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement 12v heater element?Re: Dometic RM3663 Fridgethanks for all the tips. I unplugged the 120v then turned the power back on and DC breaker tripped. I then turned it off and also turned of the climate control switch as well. Turned it back on and the shorting sound stopped and the control lights came back on but the DC control light flickered. After Christmas I will take the cover off the lower circuit board and start testing the fuses and the others suggested. My trouble all started with that interior light.
