All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: House Battery Charge QuestionAwesome info thanks guy. I woke up to 12.24 and the solar power charging it up again, but I am surprised that I would reach 50% batt on only one night of boondocking. Is this normal? I am in a 20’ born free van that has basically no amenities lol. The only thing I ran last night was tv for a couple hours, Xmas lights for a couple hours and then my Engle fridge which is always running on dc but supposed to draw very minimal power. I am also having trouble understaning how the inverter/charger comes into play? I have a freedom 10 model inverter/charger. My understanding was to turn it off if I’m getting low on batteries? Am I wrong and this thing somehow actually charges them while giving me power? My understanding was the only way to get charge is from shore power, solar or running the truck.? Sorry if it’s a noob question but I am new to having an rv and learning as I go. Crossing into Baja tomorrow. Happy New Years guys!House Battery Charge QuestionI have a house bank with two 12 volt batteries in parallel. I read that I should not let them fall below 50% charge when boondocking, but I forgot how to calculate what a 50% charge with this setup can be. Currently they are at 12.5, and the string of Christmas lights I have is making me nervous. Thanks and happy new year!Re: Dead Battery QuestionThanks so much. I feel a lot better. I’m currently cruising through Tennessee, and I will do the testing suggested tonight when I arrive at a campground. I may also stop at autozone if I see one soon to get the battery checked. Otherwise, I’ll just do that myself. Thanks again!Re: Dead Battery QuestionI should have tested the batteries, but we were blocking someone's way to get to work and we had to get on the highway, so we jumped it and took off. Our house batteries seemed fine. The fridge was working, all lights still turned on in the coach. However, the chassis battery was completely drained (would not start). Sorry for my lack of terminology. To clear things up, we have a Freedom 10 inverter that's wired to two house batteries, and from there, it goes up to the chassis battery with an isolator between. Now I'm a bit freaked about leaving my inverter on at all. Some of my research has made me think a Xantrex ECHO battery charger may help?Re: Dead Battery QuestionHey Matt, The Freedom 10 is definitely connected to the house bank. The odd thing is that the fridge and house lights were working fine. What is the best way to test the battery isolator? Thanks a lot. LLDead Battery QuestionI have a small 20-foot Born Free with Freedom 10 charger/inverter. I left it parked for two nights at a friend's house. The inverter was on, and the only thing plugged in was a low consumption Engel fridge. The battery was absolutely completely dead when I went to start it this morning. My question is, if I run the inverter on accident for too long, shouldn't the battery isolator protect the front battery?Re: Axel Weight/ suspension questionthanks so much guys I have it at a shop now to see what he thinks also. Apparently the ford e350 springs come stock flat at 3750 per side and it is normal for them to "frown" a bit. So im not sure i need em. Maybe add a leaf or a super spring or even some air bags is the better call. Still not sure, anyone know the average life span of a leaf?Axel Weight/ suspension questionI have a 97 20' born free on a ford e-350 dually and I would like the rear end to sit a little higher. The spring pack on it looks a bit tired, saggy and rusted so that is where i was planning to start. I was chatting with a member on another thread who told me to get my rig weighed which I have now done. My rear axel has a max weight of 7500 pounds and weighed in at 6000 which is good, but the largest capacity spring set I can find is a 10 leaf pack w a capacity of 5000. The current spring pack on it has 8 springs. My gut tells me this 5000 pound heavy duty set will be good enough. Do I need to make sure the springs are speced exactly for the weight of my rig? Any help is appreciatedRe: voltage question 110 on shore power 100 on inverter???thanks so much that thread is very helpfulRe: voltage question 110 on shore power 100 on inverter???BLF that is exactly what it is doing 97-100 and it is MSW so maybe I don't have an issue. Mexi I'll try an analog meter tomorrow I don't have one but ill ask my neighbor or pick one up lol. Larry the batts are fully charged. Thanks so much guys
