Since this was asked in an RV forum, I feel the answer has to be answered in the best possible RV response. Some answers came close but not in my opinion well enough. YOUR prevailing speed must be based on your RV components. First go to the tire manufacturer's page and get the tire speed vs. weight load chart. Then look at your RV's laden weight (weighed at a scale not guessed at or assume). Next visualize the road you will be on (road surface, curves vs straight, traffic load, etc.) The higher the laden weight, the lower your speed should compared to the tire charts speed. The worse the road conditions or more traffic, then again lower your speed. On an interstate with my highly loaded RV and moderate traffic, I'll try to maintain 60 mph (5 less than my tires max at the weight I haul). Higher traffic will lower that by 5mph. I want to get where I'm going but wont sacrifice going faster for safety in any situation. Vehicles that come up behind me are never impeded by more than a couple of minutes.Sophisticated acam going aroundWell I'm selling my 5th wheel (DRV). I was contacted by a very articulate person saying they had read my ad and was very interested in my unit. What was my lowest price and where could they see it. So I told them the price and that it was located in Florida. He said he was in Canada on business but would return to Lititz, Pa soon where he lived. At that time he would send me a cashiers check and could we then meet to go over the unit and he would then have his transporter move it. So my hair went up. Where do you live in Lititz? I live just 10 miles away for 20 years. My son is a police officer in Lancaster and can stop by so you know I'm legit. Who do you work for? Since you are going to the bank to get a cashiers check why not do a wire transfer? Safer and protects him from fraud via banking laws. Well never heard from him again. Wonder why ???Re: DRVI think this post is a "bater" and not a master one at that. Bash DRV if you want but I will still bet that percentage wise of units a mfg sells that has poblemsr, that DRV has one the lowest percentages. There you go bater.Re: Lippert spec'd frame listUh, yea, DRV is a DRV spec'd frame, Lippert built. There is a difference in a Lippert stock frame used by a manufacturer and the DRV spec'd 15" box frame built by Lippert. I believe Redwood and Cedar Creek use stock frames.Re: RV internet gaming opencircles wrote: The modem from a cable service would be great. Thanks for all the info. Or you could just buy a spool of FIOS wire and hook it into the closest FIOS distribution point, unroll the spool to your camping destination and PLAY AWAY. Really, gaming in a 5th wheel while camping is like knitting while scuba diving, it can be done but WHY?Re: What to do? 5er not level w/ truckThe engineers at Cedar Creek know this: Not all trucks, and how they are set up, result in the same ground to 5th wheel plate height set up. Thus they made two places to help achieve level - first the 5th wheel hitch PIN attachment point has multiple holes to move the hitch PIN up and down. Second, the suspension has multiple shackle holes to move the 5th wheel up and down. Use the shackle holes to move the back of the 5th wheel higher. If that puts the trailer nose lower then use the hitch mount to move it back up by putting the pin box in the next lower holes. The hitch itself in the truck can also be raised and lowered to fine tune the level point.Re: First 5th Wheel Purchase!!! Want quiltyIf you want quality then you must look beyond the skin of the unit. Such things as how is the frame constructed - box frame vs. I beam, 10", 12" or 15", solid wood cabinets or veneered cabinets, 17.5" wheels vs. 16" or 15", hydraulic disc brakes vs. electric, doutherm sealed windows vs. dual pane or single. What difference does all of this make you ask? Well let me explain one or two and then you be the judge. A lot of manufacturers will make the unit look like it's high end but do you want veneered cabinets or real wood or even plastic wood looking trim? Which speaks quality to you? Which do you think is a quality, heavy haul wheel, a 17.5 or a 16 or a 15? If you answer all of these questions then YOU will have only one or two QUALITY choices and the others will fall into some other category. I did all of this and came to one conclusion and our unit looks like brand new after 5 years of living in it FULL time, 365, 24X7. We are very satisfied with our DRV.Re: folding mobility scooterI found using a folding wheelchair much easier and folds to a very small foot print. See http://www.wheelchair88.com/ for their options. My 1000 is fast, comfortable, easy to maneuver, easy to transport and set up.Re: Which one would you pick?I have the Bosch Axxis washer and dryer units....the best by far ! Front loading, water conserving and even at 110V the dryer works great.Re: 30 amp to 50 amp conversion? There is another way to wire a 50A plug with just one side of the 120V-50A and wire it into the 30A distribution. That will give you 50A instead of 30A, but you need to use one of the hots, ground and neutral. For proper wiring on the web.
