Nobody goes on an outdoor fun trip on a motor home for free. Tell them the game plan is having the whole team play and everyone pays to play.

Going to Niagara on the Canadian side? I’d suggest going via Lake Erie, Ohio, Pennsylvania. You might as well enjoy the sights there. It’s not going to eat too much into whatever planned time you have for Niagara.

For an outdoor trip? You’ve done it already. You’ve been honest and practical and told them (nicely, I’m sure) to put up or stay behind. If they’re real family, real friends … it’ll be no problem.

Just an idea. Get the kids to pitch tents and sleep outdoors. Let them take care of a campfire dinner for the family. It’s a good thing for bonding and teaches them about responsibility-sharing.

I loved California and it was more for a leisurely sight-seeing that I enjoyed immensely Sausalito, a quaint, little tourist town that was just nice and friendly with great seafood, to boost. Monterey was another place we loved.

I don’t know how you feel about it but pork and chicken wings barbecue always work with the kids when on a camping trip. We’d sometimes roast some sweet potatoes as well.
