Now at twice the price, would I still buy a diesel? Probably, yes. I do use less fuel compared to a gasser, although I don't neccesarily save money. It tows better. Solid reliable engine.Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.TeamSlacker wrote: "My second weekend out racing this season, and the PowerWise 3500 is leaking oil. It was actually leaking the first weekend out, but I didn't notice it there since it was parked on the dirt. This past weekend with it sitting on the asphalt there was a oil stain underneath it after a few hours. I checked all the obvious like valve cover, etc, but with the leak between the motor and gen in the middle it looks like possibly the crank seal. I'm still within the 90 day exchange warranty with store I purchased at (Checker Auto) only problem is I just stoped there and they aren't stocking them anymore. I can either take it back and exchange it for the new one they have sitting on the floor in the store, which also has oil underneath it (but possbily just shipping oil as it's never been run). Or exchange it for the yellow Champion units they are carrying now and pay the difference. Now I just have to go back and read thru 60 pages worth of posts here again and find out if the Champion one will be acceptable." I had my new Champion unit in use at Indy this weekend. I ran it for a total of about 15 hours. I used a 30 amp twist lock receptacle with an adapter from Northern tool to connect my RV cord. Ran fine, didn't trip a breaker once. Wasn't warm enough to need the AC, but I ran it for a short time w/o problems. There seems to be 2 spec sheets out there with 2 different noise levels, the lower of which is 68 db, which is probably correct. No one complained about the noise at the quiet campground. There may be 2 versions of this generator, make sure you get the one with a 30a plug in. In short I'm very happy with the unit so far.Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info."Thanks for all the info on this site.I have been reading it since the beginng. Our local Schuck's has a 4450 peak wattage generator, for $299.00. Has any one heard of this one.Picture looks like it has 4 plugins.Looks like a 30,5o and two 15s.Also has a 6.5hp ohv engine. thanks for the info. " That generator must be the Champion unit. I have one, as do several in this thread. The 4450 peak is generous, really its a 3000-3500 Watt unit. There seems to be 2 variants of this engine. The listed noise level of 76 is probably wrong, because mine seems quieter than that. Some of the unit specs state a 68 db level, which is probably correct. A few pages back is a very detailed description and use of this unit, including power output.Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info. PatJ wrote: Great forum, great thread. I read the whole thing, and I appreciate all the work that has gone in to this thread. Thanks, everyone! I went out today and bought the Champion C46535 unit from Shucks Auto (Kragen, Checker, Parts America, etc.) I spent the evening poking around with it and testing it. I felt it was right to post my findings to the discussion. It's a must read if you are considering the Champion unit. Great write up on the Champion. I too have one, but it is also slightly different. Mine has a 120V 30A 3 prong locking receptacle, which I plan to use with the TT using a L5-30P to RV30R adapter (from Northern Tool). My manual states 76dB noise, but I don't believe it, it seems quieter. Although I cannot test that, I think it may be closer to what your specs say, in the 68dB range. Since I got it many for trackside camping, noise is not as big of an issue. Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info. When I fired up my Champion, it seemed quieter than expected (manual states 76db). I was able to talk easily to my wife standing next to it. Without a meter, though, I cannot know for sure....Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info. That Wildfire unit looks alot like the Champion 3500W genset I got from Checkers auto, only it is red instead of yellow.Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.I got a chance to fire up my new Champion 3500W unit. Easy to start, loud but not shocking. My RV is still in storage so I could not try it on that. Easily ran a table saw @ 15 Amps though. I doubt the Nikota could do that.Re: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.A big thanks to the Professor and others who provide such iseful info here. I was very close to buying the Nikota unit at Costco until I found out here that it probably will not be helpful to run the power needs of a travel trailer with AC. Here in Bloomington MN, I could not find the ELM 3000 genset. We do have Checkers stores and they carry the PowerWise generator ($329) and the Champion 3500W unit , (model #c46535, also $329). This unit was discussed a few pages back in this thread. I bought one of the Champion units yesterday. They have been selling alot of these. Here are the specs: Running Watts 3500 Max Watts 4450 6.5 HP OHV 15L fuel tank, 10 hr run at 50% Outlets 12V/10 Amp DC 120V/30Amp locking 3 prong 120/240V/20 Amp locking 4 prong 2 X 120V/20Amp standard 3 prong, each rated 120 v single pahse, 60 hz, up to 3500Watts. I will try to post up some pages from the manual if it would be helpfull. Comes with wheel kit too! This unit should fulfill my needs: Back up power, small tools, and Travel trailer power. I can't wait to try it out. 1992 27" Mallard TT Dodge Durango, 5.7L HemiRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Very helpful thread, thank you for the time and effort. Now if I can just find on eof these generators.....
