It’s easy to hook up and disconnect. I did inquire about safety chains and was told they were only required in Texas. I like to be on the cautious side and plan to get them.Re: Portable ice maker for RV.I bought one at Walmart 3 years ago, and we like it. But then there are just 2 of us, but we keep it busy.Re: Digital thermstatI have a Jayco Jay Feather 24FSB. I couldn't tell you what my units are, but sounds pretty much like the same setup that you have. It did come with an analog Dometic thermostat. Last year I had the trailer in the shop for hail damage and had the repairman replace the thermostat with a digital thermostat. It is also a Dometic, and so far I have been very pleased with it.Re: Buying from Camping World is awfulSometimes their in-store purchases are not any better. We received an invitation to a sale at the Edmond, Oklahoma store, a few months ago, and was anxious to go pick up on some items we wanted for this camping season. I found a single reading lamp in a box, but wanted 2. I was politely told that i could not buy the display lamp, but they could order one for me from another store. I should be there by the end of the next week. Okay, says I. Two weeks pass and I call them and was given some lame excuse why they haven't gotten it or called me to let me know of the status. I still have not heard from them, nor have I gotten any lamps yet. I will be making my lamp purchase from another source. Not sure IF or WHEN I will go back to CW. MichaelRe: cutting plexiglass ?If you feel you need to cut it, put painters blue tape over the line you are going to cut. Then mark the cut on the tape. I've done this with a scroll saw and a band saw with not problems. The edge will have to be cleaned up a little, but it's not a problem.Re: which is best truck for 5000Lb trailerNot having the specifics of your family or what you'll be carrying, all I have to offer is what I have done. My trailer weights about 5000+/- a couple hundred. (Sorry I don't remember and its in repair) It's a Jayco Jayflight 24FSB. I was pulling with a GMC Sierra CCSB 1/2 ton with a 5.3, 5sp auto and 3.42 axle. It pulled okay until we got to any hills where it sometimes struggled, and crosswinds made it feel like the tail wagging the dog. I recently traded for a 3/4 ton Chevy Silverado 4x4 CCSB with a 6.0 gas, 4 speed auto and 4:10 rear axle. Best decision I've made on a tow vehicle. Towing is much easier.Re: Half ton to three quarter....... Worth it?I was driving a GMC Sierra 1500 CC, 5.3 auto, with a 3.42 gear ratio. Tow rating of 6800 lbs. My TT has a GVWR of 7200, so I was too close to my limit for comfort, although it did the job. I recently traded for a Chevy Silverado 2500 CC 4x4, 6.0 gas, auto with a 4.10 gear. Tow rating around 9500 lbs. I don't recall the actual number there, but it tows much easier. Yup, to me it was worth it.Re: propane regulatorThe nice thing about an auto changeover regulator is that you don't have to get out in the cold or wet weather in the middle of the night to switch it to have heat. I spent almost 8 years with a camper with an auto changeover regulator, and never ran out of propane. I made it part of my routine to check the propane tanks when I was getting ready for a camping trip, so I had a good idea how much propane I had. If one tank was close to empty, I either had it refilled or replaced it with a spare tank i have. Sometimes I just put a spare tank in the truck. My new Jayco has a manual changeover from the factory. I haven't thought about changing it, yet. PoppyRe: lights on camperI had the same problem when I picked up my new Jay Flight. The guy that installed my anti-sway told me the lights were not working, and said he checked that the lights on the trailer were in fact working. When I got home, the first thing I did was check the fuse box and found a 15 amp fuse blown. Problem solved.Lurker from OklahomaBeen lurking on this website for a couple years. Actually, we've owned a Rockwood Mini Lite for 7 years, so camping in not new to us. Last Saturday, we traded the Rockwood for a Jay Flight 24FBSC. I still can't believe we now have a bed/table that we have to convert twice day. We are almost loaded up, have most of the minor issues taken care of, and we are anticipating our next trip. Thanks for lending an ear, Michael
