Stop by a truck parts house and look for Truck Lite or Grote brand lights. They are designed for usage 365 days a year. Some of them are warranted for 15 years. You will spend a little more...once.Re: Parking TC in Chicago?I'll throw in one more reason to stay out of the city: there are numerous low clearance bridges throughout the city. Some are in the downtown area but at least one is right off an exit from the southbound Dan Ryan. Unless you are really good at backing up through traffic (or always wanted an open-top camper), leave it and take the train.Re: Help with Battery Terminal corrosion and whyI have had excellent success with the felt washers and then spraying the whole terminal with Permatex High Tack gasket cement. The High Tack stays soft enough to 'heal' after connecting jumper cables or test leads. I re-coat every year ... or two if I forget. I should add that I only do this on top post style systems. The truck in my sig line has side terminals and I do nothing to them.Re: Benefits of owning a truck camperI like to move every four days or so and the TC is so easy to set up / take down. Also, when you're on the road you can park places where the 5ers / MHs / TTs won't fit. If I see something that looks interesting I stop...frequently I can park in a standard parking spot.Re: ??? about TC on truck 24/7Gun people ask a similar question regarding leaving magazines loaded for long periods of time. The answer from people who design springs is that the spring wears through movement and not load. If I wanted to leave my camper on the truck it wouldn't concern me a bit. The only reason I don't leave them attached 24/7/365 is that I have heated storage for the truck but the overhead clearance is only 7 feet.Re: Money is No Object-- What's your combo, Where are You Going?I would happily stick to a TC ... but the truck would become a small Peterbilt with air brakes and air suspension. No worrying about GVW or what to tow.Re: 1960 International Harvester House Car Camper on Ebay MKish wrote: I have a feeling that anyone who buys is it going to dump the camper and just enjoy that pretty truck. That was my thought but I have no idea where you would find a pickup box to replace whatever that thing is behind the cab and under the camper.Re: Genrac Inpact 36 lp - Sleepy HelpDo you have a voltmeter? There are a couple of simple things you can check. I went through this last year - ended up with a new circuit board.Re: Tire Pressures for Dually and Heavy T/C gvgeode wrote: I have a similar truck, 2010 F450 with the stock tires 225/70R19.5G. Door sticker says 85 front and 75 rear. Fully loaded (15,000 lbs) my front tires carry 2950 pounds each. Tire mfgr data sheet says 75 psi will carry that weight. Rear tires carry 2280 each and data sheet doesn't go that low. I run at 90 front and 85 rear which gives me a comfortable ride and a margin of about 20-30% below the weight capacity of the tires. What he said. First, get axle weights when you're loaded up and ready to go (water, fuel, wife, kids - everything). Then, check the tire manufacturer's data sheet for your tires. At each pressure interval (usually every 5 or 10 pounds) there will be a capacity. Find the weight you have on your tires and you have the answer. BTW: the capacity will be different for singles vs. duals. Plan accordingly.Re: Hershey RV show / silly humansYou mean its OK to slap them? Why wasn't I told about this?
