We are leaving Reno next Thursday and heading across Nevada on U.S. 50. Is this risky considering possible snow at the higher elevations? I'd love to see this stretch of road but may be starting out too late in the year.

On those 12 and 15 percent downhill grades slow down and use lower gears. Going the speed limit will get you in trouble. We had to stop half way down to cool the brakes.
