Thanks Rail! anything mechanical I should look for? Pico2011, As in all coach's at any price or trim level, the #1 thing is water intrusion! Then the mechanical side, which can be checked by oil samples, and a good inspection! The Journey's have a 1 piece fiberglass roof, which it very good! Also, it has the auto start feature for the generator, if you leave, and it gets too hot or cold inside or your battery's get low! You have many choices, in your price range, it will come down to which one jumps out and grabs you! Then you will have to decide if it is the one with the best records, and care! I would be looking for a one owner, with all the maintenance records available! The reason I said the Journey, was it had all the things you wanted, and had the big motor, which also got very good fuel mileage! I also like Country Coach's, Foretravel's, Monaco's, Beaver's, Newmar's, Tiffin's, in that order. JMHO Rail!:CRe: Split rims FunTwoDrv wrote: This site may have the solution for you... Good luck, Gary Those are simulators, not wheels, Gary, I would think you could get 19.5 wheels, and buy low pro tires, and keep your gearing pretty close! And if it does change it, it will be for the good, as you will cruse at lower rpm's! JMHO! Rail!:CRe: Best used DP value for 100K?If it was me looking and I had 100,000 to spend, I would be looking for a 2009 Winnebago Journey with the 350 hp cummins! Wow, what a nice coach! rvtrader.com has 5 or 6 of them for sale, 34' and 38' long, and they have everything you want and more!! Prices from 100,000 to 147,000! Most around 100,000 thou! The 350 hp was only available the one year, and was a real performer, and got great fuel mi. Worth a look? You do not see many for sale! Rail!:CRe: Electric Heater Recommendations?I have used the Stanley brand ceramic squirrel cage heater, 750/1500 watts, it moves a lot of hot air, and has a thermostat to regulate the heat. Not cheap, Lowes/Menards, 79 dls. The two I have work flawless for many years! And can be used as a fan too! Rail!:CRe: small leak (drip) behind the hot water tank.Great to hear you got it fixed, as I was watching and learning! Old Biscuit is pretty sharp! And I learned a few things along the way! Thanks, Rail!:CRe: Fogged up window repair Deano56 wrote: Big Katuna wrote: My buddies 98 Foretravel windows haven't fogged. had dual pane in 98? X-2,, Timmac, said it very well! And it depends on the insulation package and if it has dual pane windows or not!Re: I-25 Albuquerque, New Mexico to I-10 jrp wrote: yes, an easy drive, just over 200 miles, no mountains, just a few big washes that you drop in and climb out. if you're headed West on I-10, exit at Hatch and use 26 to Deming, saves almost 50 miles from going the long way thru Las Cruces. X-2!!Re: Help determining if I can get a motorhome into my drivewayYou will be able to back just about any MH into that driveway! You said the street was 26' from the end of your driveway to the opposite curb? Ok, you have 20' wheelbase, so that gives you 6 ', (3' if your front overhang is 3') extra from the rear wheel starting in your driveway to the front of your MH! So even if you have to pull up, which you will most certainly not have to do, you have 3' to do it in! Your driveway is 18 ' wide, your MH is 8'6" wide, at the most, but probably a little narrower. So if you hug the curb either way, you will not have to back over it and have plenty of room! If you have 35' MH, wheelbase is 20' front overhang is 3', that leaves 12' rear overhang, with 18' of driveway? Gives you 6', Damn, you can back it in there in your sleep!! And, to make this all a little easyer, take a red folgers can (plastic now) and put it at the end of the curb to give you something to go buy, back up so your rear wheels just miss the curb and the can, and cut it in! Stop and get out and look a couple of times, to make yourself sure! After a few times you will lose the can! Hope this helps! Rail!Re: New to site.First, I would go look at both at these MH's, and would want to take them out and drive them both! Ask about the reason for the motor work on the one and ask to see the receipt's. I would want service records for both coach's! 10,900 is way too much money for the 86, period! I bought a 10 year newer HR with everything documented, everything fixed, replaced, and got all the documents to support everything that was done and all the receipts! For 11,900, came with new tires, brakes, rotors, brake fluid change, wheel bearings checked, and packed, coolant sys. tested and flushed, trans. fluid changed/w/filter, generator serviced, oil and filter changed, in the gen and the MH, new plugs, wires, dist. cap, new couch in leather, new mattress in the back, Dash air serviced and charged, new paint! All with documentation! So they are out there! Just so you know! I would look at both, and go with your gut, as it is usually the best! but remember, these are older, vintage MH's, and even in perfect shape now, tomorrow something may break! It is a older piece of equiptment, so don't let your emotions make your choice! Make them a low ball offer, you never know, with out seeing these two MH's in person, I would offer on the 86 6,000.00! And the 89 is pretty good priced where it is! offer a little less, see what they say or counter offer! Remember the less you pay, the more you have for repairs! And you will have repairs!! Just figure on that for sure! One more thing is how long have they been trying to sell these too MH's? And , do not buy right away, take a short drive, and think about it, talk it over with your wife, get her input, as she is going to be doing this too!! I wish you guys the best of luck, and with the job search, do not rule out the north west! It does rain a lot, but not enough to discount them, and it is a great place to raise a family, and get yourself a great job! I have friend's living up there, and they love it! So do not rule it out, do some research and see what you come up with! Best to you and your family! Rail!
