I can just hear those batteries crying... that level of abuse will shorten their life considerably..Re: Generator Marauderer wrote: I have a Puma TT and need 30A service. I bought the Honda 3000w generator. Pricey but our neighbors really appreciate it and I don't like to be a burden and bother anyone. The only shortcoming is weight. It is heavy and it is all the wife and I can do to get it in/out of the truck. Most of the time I can get help from another camper but, there are times that we can't. Some of my friends have two of the Honda 2000w generators that they run in parallel and it is a lot easier to move them around individually than the one 3000w unit. I have an old Boliy 3600 unit, it's a Yamaha clone, but it's only 75lbs.. easy for me to move.Re: Wiring for inverter jesseannie wrote: I am going to install a new inverter I think about 800 to 1000 watts. We are low energy users. The wiring run from the battery will be approximately 12-14 feet. What gauge wiring should I use?T This will be mainly be used to charge batteries for various electronics.. cameras, computers, phones etc. I was thinking about a power strip so I could leave all these cords plugged in. Do you think that will be a problem as long as I don't overload? Jesseannie 800 to 1000W is not a low energy load for a 12 Volt system... 12 to 14 ft... that's a long line for the load.. you are going to need 2/O awg cables at a minimum. a better option would be to move the inverter closer to the batteries, say < 2 feet and use 0 awg cables. cable resistance plays a BIG part with low voltage and high amperage.Re: Traveling with refrigerator on gas??? Gone out twice so far and after use I drain the tanks but the light on the black water tank shows 2/3 full and after hearing the sewage water go down the hose it seems empty but the light shows 2/3 full I'm afraid to go out this weekend and get set up to find a nearly full tank.. Anyone have that problem? welcome to the world of cheap re tarded RV fixtures.. I'm quite sure 99% of owners have this problem. It's almost always caused by waste sticking to the sensor and fooling the system.. a good wash with a wand should fix it.. I personally don't bother, I just peek down the potty and eyeball the level... oh and what's with the bbs censoring the word "re tarded" ? seriously ?Re: Bought new TT today Area13 wrote: Sold my TC yesterday bought a TT today. Did a ton of research and had what I wanted picked out, got the price I wanted, done. 2017 O.R.V. Timber Ridge 24RKS with the offroad package, upgraded shocks, 16" E tires. I think these things are built well, hope i'm right, we'll see. Here are some pics, pretty stoked. we optioned the recliners instead of the couch.. welcome to the club.Re: Solar & batteries ... jornvango wrote: Thanks everyone! TO provide an update, we have taken the plunge and installed the following upgrades (for now): - replaced 12V house battery with 2x Trojan T105 - 1x GoPower "overlander" solar panel 160W (we have room for one more if needed) - 1700W GoPower inverter (the 1000W was out of stock) - battery disconnect - surge gard protector for when we hookup to shore power - replaced Smittybilt tow bar with Blue Ox Alpha tow bar (to tow the Jeep) We intend to keep an eye on the battery level by using our radios hack meter, but would like something hardwired.. not sure which one to get. Anyway, many thanks for the great advice! no mention of a charge controller.. ?Re: GM's turn in the barrel I find it interesting that the world's 15 biggest container ships create more air pollution than all of the cars in the world. and ironically, they could be the very ships delivering car and truck parts to the US. !Re: GM's turn in the barrel STEVEO496 wrote: So 700 and some odd thousand owners of these trucks are concerned about the emissions levels of these trucks to the point that they're filing a suit against the manufacturer? If they're so concerned about the environment why aren't they driving Prius's instead of 3/4 ton and larger pick-up trucks? I'd like to see you pull a 12000Lb+ fiver with a Prius ! :BRe: Dirty Coils? beemerphile1 wrote: For diagnosis, get out your thermometer and measure the in going temperature and the out going temperature. The difference will tell you if it is working correctly. I think the goal is about 22 degrees difference, someone can chime in with the correct number if I'm wrong. there isn't really a "correct" number as such, the delta T is a function of ambient temperature and humidity.. but typical numbers would be in the range of 10 to 20 degrees Celsius
