You might not fit everywhere a smaller setup would, but for me the trade offs are ok. Mostly camp off grid anyway.Re: Good enclosed cig lighter socket? For reliability I'd go Andersen anyway.Re: Credit Cards For Fuel DiscountsI recently used my TSD/EFS card at a TA truck stop in Denver, if my memory is accurate it was about 168 gallons of diesel, pump price showed $938. TSD extracted $883 from my bank. Better than nothing!Re: Scary moment towing my 5er around Denver last weekWhen I leave the Southern side of metro Denver headed to Southwest Texas, I drive city, state and county two lane paved roads the entire way. Generally don't drive the interstates much at all any more. It seems somewhat less race track like. I also run a dash cam most of the time.Re: Propane regulator making noiseGasman6674, No problem, and I agree with the getting older part! It seems I used to get more done everyday.Re: Propane regulator making noiseGasman6674, The tanks pictured DO have OPD valves, I'm using the internal threads for connection.Re: Propane regulator making noiseThe way I figure it, if there's a fire, the rubber hoses will become compromised and the opd overflow valve will be applied. I believe it's just a single stage regulator. The key for me is not to restrict the flow of propane, as much as possible anyway.Re: Propane regulator making noiseHopefully this is a pic that will zoom. The hose connections are just old fashioned style full flow connectors. I rely on the OPD valve overflow protection instead of having another overflow protection valve in the new style hoses. Good luck.Re: full time solar, maybe?I run 8 group 24 wet batteries on the tow vehicle, and two more on the fifth wheel. Thats roughly 400 lbs on the truck, which by themselves will run a 1500 watt block heater for about 4.5 hours. After that the batteries still have power for smaller loads, just not the heater. We have 640 watts of solar and run a couple of small room ac units in the fifth, and could probably run one for about 14 hours @ 500 watts just off the batteries. For sustained real life situations, I think I would need to double the solar and batteries to run one set while charging the other and be able to run two ac units. When I last looked, @ 97 outside temp, inside was 78-80 depending on where, with bath and bed closed off, two small ac's and two smaller fans running to circulate the air, using 1060 watts. In an ideal lossless world, I have 9000 watt hrs available with all ten batts. A lot less in real life. But it is all fun stuff.
