The fridge needs 12v regardless whether using gas or 120 shore power. I've had that problem before and saved some bucks and I hope you do too. Good luck.Re: Moving to 5th Wheel from TT. Lots of QuestionsI may catch some flack from this posting but here goes. A long long long time ago I bought my first TT. It was a 1968 Terry. My family and I used it for many years then I sold it and bought a Class A Pace Arrow. After several years of use and two engine swaps I sold it and bought another TT. I sold that and bought a slide in Lance which demanded a heavier pickup. I bought a new Dodge 2500 Cummins diesel. After a 3 week vacation to central Mexico I was ready to murder my wife and she was ready too. We sold that and bought my first Fiver. I had a gooseneck hitch installed in the bed and bought a gooseneck/fifth wheel adapter. I really liked that configuration. No bulky fifth wheel hitch to remove or reinstall when you need your pickup. The fiver was a Forest River product that was a piece of crap. I fabricated a tow hitch on the rear of it and pulled an enclosed motorcycle trailer behind it. Several trips to Mexico and I was done with Forest River, forever. I sold that Fiver and was camperless for a while. I then bought another Fiver and sold that and upgraded to an Avion Fiver. A truly wonderful product. I fabricated a hitch on it, fabricated a mount for the Honda 3000is gen set then sold it. There are many states that won't allow multiple trailer configurations so I bought another Class A,a Rexhall Aerbus. Now I can tow our boat in any state in the union without restrictions.Re: 12 V plug questionWhat aarond76 said is the best advise and a very nice graphic of how to do it, unless you're using a analog volt meter, in which case the needle tries to go backward. In that case the center is the negative terminal.Re: Running AC off of my home's current/Please RespondSeveral years ago some friends of mine wanted to live in their RV for the summer at my home. I installed a 30A RV outlet on the wall using a 30Amp breaker and 8 gauge wire to the outlet. They ran the AC all summer long and now I have my Class A hooked up to it when it's parked at home. I've had no problems at all and never had a serious voltage drop. I also hooked up to the sewer line and water supply and it makes a super RV pad. My advise is to have an experienced electrician do the work and make sure he/she uses a proper circuit breaker and proper size wire for the length of wire run to the outlet. Hook up and be happy!!!Re: upgrade window shadesMy wife and I own a '95 Rexhall Aerbus and the living area shades from the factory were in poor condition and we decided to replace them. We looked on line and decided that the replacement "RV" blinds were too expensive and cheaply made. We went to Lowes and ordered the correct width and length day and nite shades. Yesterday we installed them. I had to remove the back plastic cover on the "head" of the blinds and drilled several holes (number dictated by the length) at the bottom of the "mechanical housing" in order to mount them in the same manner as the originals. They look and work fantastic. The only change from the original install is remounting the valance. The valance fits tightly at the top and does not allow for screwing the valance at the top inside of the valance so I predrilled one hole on each side at the top area diagonally from the outside of the valance into the wall and screwed a screw into the wall. Hardly noticeable unless you know they aren't factory installed. Much cheaper than "RV" shades and much higher quality.Re: Generac Failure AgainYou mention running the "diagnostics" again. Do you have or do you know where I can find a Service/Technical Manual? I have a Generac 6600 in a 95 Rexhall that runs fine but has no output voltage. Thanks, Rick
